Descending the reinforced concrete stairwell to Floor 2, the Grand Crusader Alliance was greeted by a wave of searing, radiant heat that caused their defensive qi barriers to shimmer like oil on water.

The air grew thick, smelling intensely of molten quartz, ionizing ozone, and red-hot iron. With every downward step, the ambient temperature climbed—leaping from the brisk seventy degrees of the conveyor hall to a sweltering one hundred and forty degrees Fahrenheit.

"Brace yourselves!" Patriarch Guang Ming commanded, his voice booming through the stairwell as he raised his Solar Godblade.

A shimmering dome of golden protective light enveloped the vanguard. Yet even through the barrier, the radiant thermal wash was so intense that sweat poured down the crusaders' necks, soaking their silk undergarments and threatening to boil the spirit water in their flasks.

"We descend into the **Cauldron of Abyssal Torment**!" Guang Ming warned with grim resolve. "The scriptures record that the second circle is forged from unquenchable elemental fire. The heat here is dense enough to melt low-grade spirit iron and calcify the meridians of the unworthy! Steel your hearts!"

When the thousand holy warriors stepped out onto the wide steel mezzanine of Floor 2, the spectacle before them silenced the entire army in petrified awe.

Floor 2 was an industrial titan’s dream: Austin’s primary heavy foundry.

The subterranean hall stretched hundreds of yards beneath a ceiling supported by forty-inch structural steel girders. Dominating the western wall were four colossal induction blast furnaces—massive cylindrical cauldrons lined with high-alumina refractory brick, powered by the 2.5-gigawatt-hour capacitor grid. Blind-bright orange fury radiated from their inspection ports, holding over eighty tons of liquid Grade-5 titanium and molten silicate flux at three thousand degrees.

Carved into the concrete floor were deep, brick-lined runner channels through which sluggish streams of glowing, yellow-hot slag flowed like liquid honey. The molten rock bubbled and hissed, giving off intense thermal radiation as it snaked through the channel network toward the central quench basins.

At the far end stood the centerpiece of the foundry: a monolithic, sixty-foot-tall **50-Ton Hydraulic Forging Press**.

Fabricated from heavy cast-steel uprights and driven by twin chrome-plated hydraulic cylinders fed by dual one-hundred-horsepower radial piston pumps, the press cycled with relentless, earth-shaking precision:

*HSSSSSS... KA-CHUNG!*

*HSSSSSS... KA-CHUNG!*

With every downward stroke, the hardened die brought fifty tons of compressive force slamming down upon glowing billets of titanium alloy. The impact produced concussive shockwaves, sending blinding fountains of golden sparks cascading fifty feet into the air.

Overhead, suspended from the roof trusses by braided wire rope, hung another massive enameled safety placard in industrial yellow:

DEV CONSOLE
STANDALONE HOST
[SUNSET PEAK FOUNDRY: FLOOR 2 OPERATING RULES]
1. Mandatory Shade-5 eye protection in tapping areas.
2. Slag gutters must be kept clear of crusting at all times.
3. Long-handled iron rakes are located in Wall Racks A–D.
4. DO NOT STAND UNDER HYDRAULIC RAM WHILE CYCLING.

Patriarch Guang Ming stared down at the glowing runner gutters, his eyes widening with theological horror:

"The **River of Netherworld Magma**! Look how it pools along the sacred pathways, threatening to swallow the foundation of the realm! And that colossal obsidian hammer at the center of the hall—it falls with the relentless, unstoppable rhythm of the Heavens, pounding mortal sins into fine dust!"

Beside him, Grand Abbot Wu Nian pointed a trembling bronze finger toward the eastern perimeter wall:

"Brother Guang Ming! The demon lord has left the **Implements of Purgatory**! Wall Racks A through D! Dozens of heavy iron tridents of ancient forging! The trial demands that we divert the rivers of liquid fire into the iron carts of purification, lest the magma overflow and engulf the realm in apocalyptic flame!"

Sword Matron Ling Yue’s nine frost swords circled her slender form in a defensive frenzy. The sub-zero sword qi hissed violently as the furnace heat struck the blades, vaporizing the surrounding air into clouds of white steam:

"The heat is destabilizing our spiritual roots! If this molten nether-stone overflows its channels, it will incinerate our younger disciples! Disciples of the Nine Heavens! Take up the iron tridents! We shall battle the river of fire!"

"For the Heavens! Contain the magma!" roared two hundred elite sword masters.

In an explosion of martial coordination, Golden Core sect elders and sword cultivators vaulted from the mezzanine railing onto the concrete foundry floor. They rushed toward Wall Racks A, B, C, and D, snatching the heavy, ten-foot-long forged iron slag rakes from their galvanized pegs.

The rakes were hefty industrial tools, each featuring a solid two-inch steel shaft and a broad, notched iron blade designed to skim cooling dross off liquid metal.

To the cultivators, they were divine implements of tribulation.

"Form three lines of battle!" Ling Yue ordered, channeling her glacial qi straight into the shaft of her iron rake until the dark metal frost-froze beneath her palms. "First skirmish line, target the slag crusting along Channel Alpha! Second and third lines, wheel the iron carts into position!"

What followed was an awe-inspiring display of high-level martial arts repurposed into frantic metallurgical maintenance.

Sword masters flipped through the air, their silken robes tucked into their belts to avoid catching fire from embers. With surgical precision, they plunged the heavy iron rakes into the sluggish surface of the molten gutters. Whenever cooling silicate flux formed a crust threatening to dam the flow, three cultivators drove their rakes downward in unison, levering eighty-pound glowing crusts clear of the channel.

*CLANG! SIZZLE! THWACK!*

With coordinated martial shouts, they flicked the glowing, red-hot slag chunks directly through the air, landing them with pinpoint accuracy into the steel dump-carts stationed alongside the gutters.

"Channel Bravo is backing up near Induction Tap Three!" an elder screamed, his eyebrows singed white. "The dross is cooling! The flow is choking!"

"Nine-Fold Magma Diverting Palm!" bellowed Abbot Wu Nian.

Wu Nian and five Iron Zen elders charged forward in a low horse stance beside the gutter. Channelling internal kinetic qi, they drove their iron rakes forward in rapid, rhythmic thrusts, carving away crust and propelling molten liquid along the refractory bricks toward the quench tanks with military precision.

Across the foundry floor, Commander Zhao Ba and thirty armored paladins took on a far more terrifying challenge: the 50-ton hydraulic forging press.

*HSSSSSS... KA-CHUNG!*

The ground shuddered with every stroke. The massive ram descended, flattened a glowing yellow ingot of Grade-5 titanium, and retracted with a pneumatic hiss:

*HSSSSSS...*

Zhao Ba stood twenty paces away, his eyes locked onto the glowing rectangular billet resting upon the anvil die. He recalled Rule Four on the yellow placard: *DO NOT STAND UNDER HYDRAULIC RAM WHILE CYCLING.*

"The demon placard warns of the Great Obsidian Hammer," Zhao Ba muttered, his teeth bared in anticipation. "It is a trial of divine speed! The hammer grants only a three-second window between its heavenly judgments! If a warrior hesitates, he shall be flattened into spiritual parchment!"

He gripped a six-foot pair of heavy drop-forged steel handling tongs.

"Patriarch! Paladins! Watch my timing!" Zhao Ba yelled.

The press cycled:

*HSSSSSS... KA-CHUNG!*

A blinding shower of sparks exploded against the safety screens. The upper ram began its smooth ascent:

*HSSSSSS...*

"Now!" Zhao Ba roared.

Channeling the entirety of his Golden Core energy into his legs, Zhao Ba burst forward in a golden blur. He slid on his knees across the polished concrete, ducking directly beneath the hovering fifty-ton steel ram.

With lightning reflexes, he clamped the heavy tongs around the glowing, red-hot 200-pound titanium billet, pivoted on his heels, and rolled backward across the floor just as the automated solenoid fired:

*KA-CHUNG!*

The hydraulic ram slammed down into empty die with an ear-splitting boom, missing Zhao Ba’s outstretched boot by less than six inches.

Zhao Ba tumbled to his feet, holding the glowing titanium billet aloft in his iron tongs like an ancient holy relic. Across the face of the metal, Austin’s automated stamping head had cleanly pressed the serial designation: *SP-TI-884*.

"Behold!" Zhao Ba screamed in triumphant ecstasy, veins bulging along his neck. "I have retrieved the divine demon-core billet! The hammer of the underworld could not crush my righteous resolve!"

"Glorious!" cheered thirty paladins. "Brother Zhao has defied the Obsidian Hammer!"

"Again!" Zhao Ba shouted, tossing the finished billet onto a heavy wooden pallet beside the freight elevator. "Another raw ingot has been fed to the die! Time the rhythm! Retrieve the divine metals!"

For forty-five grueling minutes, the Grand Crusader Alliance waged an epic campaign against the molten foundry.

Monks raked slag until their arms trembled; sword masters skimmed crust until the runner gutters flowed with pristine laminar velocity; and Zhao Ba’s paladin retrieval squad dove beneath the rhythmic forging press thirty-six consecutive times, retrieving every single finished titanium billet without sustaining a scratch.

By the time their qi reserves were half-depleted, all four slag gutters gleamed with immaculate efficiency. Eighty tons of high-grade silicate flux had been neatly skimmed and loaded into twenty-four steel recycling dump-carts, wheeled into their designated collection bays, and parked with wheel-chocks in place.

Beside the freight elevator, three heavy pallets held thirty-six pristine, forged Grade-5 titanium billets, stacked in neat alternating rows of six.

Patriarch Guang Ming collapsed onto one knee near the quench basins, his golden mantle blackened with soot, his robes reeking of hot hydraulic fluid and sulfur. He planted his Solar Godblade into the floor to steady his trembling frame, chest heaving with exhaustion:

"We... we held the line..." Guang Ming gasped, wiping sweat and black dust from his eyes. "The River of Magma has been tamed. The Obsidian Hammer has been conquered. Look upon the channels, brothers... the fire flows peacefully into the cooling basins without overflowing a single inch."

Grand Abbot Wu Nian sank onto a wooden crate, his bronze hands raw from gripping the iron rakes, but his face radiant with spiritual triumph:

"A glorious victory, Brother Guang Ming! Our righteous sweat and collective karma have cleansed the corruption of the Second Circle! The demon’s infernal foundry has been brought into holy balance!"

High above on the upper mezzanine, sealed behind soundproof acoustic glass, Austin stood inside the main foundry control booth.

He pushed his Shade-14 welding goggles up onto his hard hat and squinted down at the digital diagnostic monitors glowing on his console.

The automated digital readouts glowed in bright, soothing green:

Beside him, Tie Kuang pressed his face against the glass, staring in awe at the neatly stacked pallets of titanium billets below.

"Master Austin..." Tie Kuang stammered, his fingers twitching over his mechanical tally counter. "That slag skimming backlog... our apprentice shift was scheduled to spend three full twelve-hour days with pneumatic chisels just chipping out that hardened dross. And the forging press... we were two weeks behind on the turbine housing billet quota."

Tie Kuang pointed a trembling finger down at Zhao Ba, who was currently high-fiving three paladins beside the pallet jack.

"Those crusaders just cleared the entire gutter network in forty-five minutes. They skimmed twenty-four carts of flux, stacked thirty-six billets with millimeter precision, and they didn't even drop a single tool into the quench tank!"

Austin took his yellow grease pencil from behind his ear and made two firm, satisfying checkmarks across the foundry maintenance log:

"Told you, Tie Kuang. When workers think they’re performing routine maintenance, they drag their feet, complain about ventilation, and take twenty-minute coffee breaks. But when you convince them that raking slag is an ancient ascetic ritual required to save the mortal realm from demonic immolation, productivity spikes by over three hundred percent."

Austin tucked his clipboard under his arm and stretched his shoulders, feeling a familiar thrumming deep within his lower abdomen.

The steady hum of his internal core was shifting in frequency, rising into a high-pitched crystalline whine that vibrated through the bones of his hips.

"Speaking of which," Austin murmured, glancing down at his dantian. "All that radiant heat and kinetic feedback from the induction furnaces is pushing my internal thermal threshold over the line. My core is about to hit its next milestone. Come on, Tie Kuang. Let’s head to the spiral stairwell above Floor Three before the gravitational spike kicks in."
