Nora read Kellan’s account without interrupting.
Theo sat beside him at the kitchen table. The soup containers were empty, and the kettle had started to make a faint clicking sound as it cooled. Eli had offered to leave before the meeting, but Theo asked him to stay until Nora explained the reporting options.
“Your notes distinguish what Mr. Doran said from what you suspect he meant,” Nora said. “Keep the original. We can submit a copy.”
“Can the hospital move me down the trial list for complaining?” Theo asked.
“It should not retaliate. We can ask for the queue procedure, the person responsible for reviewing your complaint, and a written explanation of how retaliation concerns are handled. I can’t promise how quickly they’ll investigate.”
Kellan looked at the intake range Theo had written down. “And it won’t get him an earlier appointment.”
“Not necessarily.”
Theo turned the paper toward himself. “If they find Doran was offering places in exchange for favors, what happens to the people he moved?”
