Tessa heard Sera’s last clear message while she was closing the clinic’s supply cupboard.
Nadir was conscious. His arm was injured, his ankle swollen. The main tunnel was blocked behind him. Sera gave the site identifier, the service opening, the junction, and the brick arch she had marked. Then the radio filled with a grinding sound and static.
“Tessa, the tunnel shifted. Service route may be blocked. We need help.”
Tessa pressed the transmit button. “Sera, repeat your position.”
The answer broke into fragments. She caught “arch,” “injury,” and “no confirmed cause” before the signal failed.
Leah came into the room. “What do you need?”
“Write down everything I just said. Call the response office and tell them we have a confirmed person inside with Sera, a shifted tunnel, and the last landmark.”
Leah took the notepad. Tessa repeated the site number and the details she had heard. She did not fill the gaps with guesses. Leah read them back, then called the response office from the front desk.
