The second team arrived carrying a door spreader and a stretcher that would not fit through the entrance.
Their leader stopped at the threshold, took one look at the fallen partition and told the two people behind him to put the stretcher down. He was a broad man with a shaved head, an orange strip tied to each shoulder and a scar across the bridge of his nose. His name was Rian. The woman beside him, Celeste, carried the spreader. Their third member, Tomas, had a coil of webbing over one shoulder.
Tessa met them before they crossed the taped boundary. “Three people inside. Two are here, one behind the blue door. He can speak and move his feet. We don’t know what is holding the door shut.”
Rian looked past her toward Marta and Mikel. “And you need us for the third?”
“For all three. Mikel can’t walk. Marta has a head injury. We can get them to the entrance, but we’ll need a carry team outside.”
Hana came in behind the newcomers, breathless. “The completion share wasn’t intended for six hunters.”
“Then it was intended for two victims,” Tessa said. “We have three.”
Hana opened her mouth, shut it and glanced toward the door. Dani knocked twice from the other side. The sound was small, but in the silence it carried.
