The late afternoon light cast long golden shadows across the porch of Solitude Spire.
A cool mountain breeze rustled through the tall grass, carrying the crisp, sweet fragrance of the Sun-Lotus Cabbage. The massive five-star crop glowed with steady golden radiance, illuminating the garden like a private sun.
Down in the clover lawn, the Thunder Gryphon lay sprawled across the dirt.
The imperial war-mount let out a wet snort, kicking its hind legs in its sleep as it chased imaginary mountain drakes. Its brass feathers caught the setting sun, completely relaxed and entirely oblivious to the world.
Inside the quiet kitchen, Grandmaster Vivienne’s Sovereign Heart Seal remained tucked beneath the wobbly front leg of the pine table. The multi-million-year-old relic crackled with faint violet sparks, keeping three ceramic bowls and a wooden sugar pot perfectly level.
On the porch railing, Barnaby the clockwork owl sat motionless.
The black rubber stopper was jammed tight into his open brass beak, silencing his daily lectures on discipline. Barnaby held a tarnished copper coin pinned firmly under his left talon, amber crystal eyes tracking a pair of swallows gliding across the valley.
Felix Vance adjusted his position in the Zero-Gravity Recliner.
The chair hovered an inch above the cedar planks on silent magnetic coils, contouring to his lower back. Felix had his straw hat tilted over his eyes, bare feet resting on the footrest, and fingers lightly gripping his brass-cased AetherDeck.
Inside his chest, his 2.0-Earth-Mass terrestrial core hummed with deep, rhythmic gravity.
Two complete planetary masses of condensed primordial weight sat comfortably behind his ribs, anchoring the peak into the firmament. To Felix, it felt like nothing more than a warm, dense stone resting in his stomach.
The screen door gave a quiet creak.
Lyra Ashford stepped onto the porch carrying a white porcelain dish. On the plate sat fresh glazed sweet potato wedges, roasted to a golden caramel crisp. She moved with feather-light steps, disciple robes flowing like liquid silver.
She set the dish onto the pine side table beside Felix, bowing with deep respect.
"Senior Brother," Lyra murmured softly. "The sweet potatoes have been glazed with wild mountain honey. I ensured the temperature was balanced."
"Thanks, Lyra," Felix mumbled, picking up a warm wedge and taking a bite. "Sweet, crispy skin, soft center. Excellent work."
Lyra’s golden eyes shone with quiet pride. "It is my honor to serve your daily cultivation."
Felix swallowed the bite, wiping his fingers on a napkin before tapping the screen of his AetherDeck.
The obsidian slate flashed with jagged crimson lightning as an 8-bit boss cutscene began:
Felix stared at the pixelated boss rising from a bottomless void pit on his screen.
It was a colossal black-and-purple serpent with jagged pixel fangs, six glowing red horns, and wings made of dark smoke. The sprite took up half the display, roaring with an unskippable three-second audio loop.
Felix tapped the boss with his finger to bring up the Inspector HUD:
【Target: Abyssal World-Eater】 【Grade: Primordial Void Sovereign (World 3 Final Boss)】 【Behavior Profile: Scripted Multi-Phase Aggro】 【Inspector Note: An ancient cosmic parasite that feasts on dying stars and shattered realms. Enjoys tedious invulnerability phases and thirty-second roar animations. Suffers from a fatal collision detection bug when interacting with vertical teleportation surfaces.】
Felix groaned loudly, letting his head fall back against the headrest.
"Ten million hit points," Felix grumbled. "Five phases. Three invulnerability windows. Who balanced this fight? What kind of sadist designed this trash?"
He took another bite of his glazed sweet potato, chewing in irritation.
"If I fight this properly," Felix muttered, "it'll take thirty minutes of continuous dodging. My thumbs will cramp. I have an evening nap scheduled at five o'clock. I am not wasting thirty minutes on a scripted damage sponge."
Lyra stood beside his chair, her breath catching as she listened.
*Ten million life-force points?* she thought, her pulse hammering. *Five heavenly transformation phases? Could Senior Brother be confronting an ancient World-Devouring Sovereign from the Outer Void? A creature that feasts upon dying stars?*
"Senior Brother," Lyra whispered, her voice trembling with solemn reverence. "Does this dark sovereign threaten the balance of the nine realms?"
"It threatens my nap schedule," Felix said flatly. "That is a far worse crime."
At that exact moment, four thousand miles to the south, beneath the Abyssal Mountains, reality was collapsing.
Deep within the core chamber of the First Epoch, the grand expedition of the Radiant Dawn Academy stood paralyzed on the edge of a shattered obsidian bridge.
Arch-Inquisitor Valen was flat on his stomach, pinned to the basalt stone by an aura so heavy his spirit armor was cracking.
Around him, sixty senior elders and hundreds of disciples were coughing blood, their dantian cores trembling under an apocalyptic pressure that choked the cavern air.
The vault before them was not a cave. It was a vast, hollow sphere spanning twenty leagues, floating over a churning sea of pure void matter.
In the center of the sphere, the ancient seal had shattered.
Rising from the black abyss was a nightmare twenty miles long.
The Primordial Abyssal World-Eater had awakened. Its serpentine body was clad in scales of pure void crystal, absorbing all ambient light. Six titanic horns crowned its draconic skull, each horn crackling with dark lightning that warped space itself.
Its colossal crimson maw opened, releasing a roar that rattled the subterranean foundations of the entire southern continent.
"The World-Eater..." Valen choked out, clutching his chest as blood dripped from his lips. "The ancient texts spoke true... it was sealed beneath the First Epoch to sleep for eternity! Now it awakens to consume the mortal realm!"
"Elder Valen!" a supreme elder cried out in despair. "Its void breath is charging! If that beam reaches the surface, the southern empire will be vaporized in a single breath!"
The World-Eater coiled its titanic body, drawing in hundreds of leagues of subterranean air.
Dark lightning coiled around its fangs as a sphere of pitch-black antimatter condensed in its throat, ready to unleash total annihilation upon the world.
Back on the porch of Solitude Spire, Felix was scrolling through his virtual bag on the AetherDeck.
"I am definitely not dodging that beam attack," Felix said dryly. "Let's see what cheese items I have left."
Down in the miscellaneous tab, past stacks of common star-ore, sat a pair of blue square runes from a tutorial quest he cleared on Day 3:
【Item: Spatial Portal Markers (Pair)】 【Grade: Rare Utility Tool】 【Durability: Infinite】 【Inspector Note: Places two connected spatial doorways. Any entity entering Portal A instantly exits Portal B with identical vector momentum. Note: The game's physics engine fails to reset velocity during transit. Highly prone to catastrophic physics exploits.】
Felix’s lips curved into a slow, mischievous smile.
"Identical vector momentum without velocity reset?" Felix murmured. "Oh, that is beautiful. The developers never playtested this."
He dragged the blue Portal A rune onto the screen, placing it flat on the stone floor directly beneath the pixelated World-Eater's underbelly.
Then, he dragged the orange Portal B rune to the cavern ceiling, placing it directly above Portal A in a vertical line.
"Done," Felix said, setting his thumb down. "Enjoy the loop."
Down in the subterranean vault four thousand miles away, the World-Eater unleashed its apocalyptic roar and reared back its colossal head to strike.
The beast plunged downward, driving its massive twenty-mile body forward to crush the stone bridge and devour the academy cultivators.
Just as its snout reached the cavern floor, a bright blue circular rift ripped open in space directly beneath its jaws.
The titanic dragon plunged headfirst into the blue rift.
A fraction of a second later, an identical orange rift opened in the ceiling twenty leagues above.
The World-Eater shot out of the orange ceiling rift, falling straight downward.
It plunged through the air, crossed the entire cavern height in seconds, and smashed straight back into the blue floor rift!
*WHOOSH.*
Instantly, it emerged from the orange ceiling rift again, continuing its downward fall!
*WHOOSH.*
Down into the floor rift!
*WHOOSH.*
Out of the ceiling rift!
Gravity took over. Acceleration compounded with every single loop.
At first, the beast fell at standard terminal velocity. But because the spatial portals preserved momentum without atmospheric friction, its falling speed multiplied with every pass.
Within ten seconds, the twenty-mile-long calamity dragon was falling at Mach 5.
Within twenty seconds, it was plummeting at Mach 50.
Within thirty seconds, the World-Eater had accelerated to Mach 200, its massive body stretching into a blurred, screaming streak of purple light that zipped endlessly between the ceiling and the floor!
The monster's apocalyptic roar of cosmic destruction turned into a frantic, panicked shriek of motion sickness:
*ROOOOO—EEEEEE—AAAAAA—EEEEEE—ROOOOO!*
The beast couldn't turn. It couldn't flap its wings. It couldn't even close its mouth. Every time it tried to unleash its dark nova breath, the beam fired into Portal A and blew up in its own face as it exited Portal B!
Arch-Inquisitor Valen and the sixty elders lay flat on the bridge, staring up at the vertical light beam in stunned, slack-jawed disbelief.
"What... what is happening?" an elder whispered, blinking furiously. "The beast... it is falling from the sky into the ground, and from the ground into the sky?"
Valen slowly pulled himself to his knees, his eyes wide with holy enlightenment.
"The Samsara Loop of Eternal Spacetime..." Valen breathed, his voice trembling with sheer terror. "He did not strike the calamity with force! He rewrote the geometric curvature of the void! He trapped an ancient World-Eater in an infinite recursive descent!"
The disciples began to weep, clutching their talismans in prayer.
"The Sovereign bends space into a circle!" they sobbed. "The ancient beast is trapped in an inescapable treadmill of divine judgment! Its own mass and momentum are its executioner!"
Valen bowed toward the north, his forehead slamming into the obsidian stones.
"Unfathomable 5D Daoist topology!" Valen shouted in awe. "Praise Senior Brother Vance! The Master of Infinite Loops!"
Back on the sunlit porch of Solitude Spire, Felix watched his AetherDeck screen with a relaxed grin.
On the display, the boss's sprite was a blurred vertical line vibrating violently between two pixel boxes. Above its head, a status ticker was scrolling at blinding speed:
Felix picked up another glazed sweet potato wedge and took a slow, happy bite.
"Classic portal trap," Felix said, chuckling softly. "Works in every engine. Why spend mana when gravity does all the DPS for free?"
Beside him, Lyra watched his serene face, her heart overflowing with holy reverence.
*Why spend mana when gravity does the work?* she thought, committing his profound words to memory. *Senior Brother does not waste heavenly power! He harnesses the fundamental weight of creation to crush his foes without lifting a finger!*
"Senior Brother," Lyra murmured, "how long will the dark sovereign endure the descent?"
"Another two minutes until its health bar zeroes out from collision tick damage," Felix said, resting the slate on his stomach. "Then I collect the loot and go back to sleep."
Down in the yard, the Thunder Gryphon let out another long snore, perfectly at peace beneath the afternoon sun.
