The black Maybach glided into the private underground parking bay of the Cloud-Crown Sanctuary Tower. The glass doors of the private elevator hissed open, carrying Lin Mo, Su Wan, Tie Niu, and Chu Lingxiao straight up to the penthouse floor.
Chu Lingxiao stepped out onto the plush wool carpeting. She hesitated, looking down at her damp cloth shoes.
“Chairman Lin,” she whispered, her cheeks coloring slightly. “My shoes have river mud on them. I do not want to soil your carpets.”
“Mud washes out,” Lin Mo said, unbuttoning his wool coat. “Carpets are meant to be walked on. If they get dirty, we buy new ones.”
Before Chu Lingxiao could reply, a blur of pink flannel rushed down the wide corridor.
“Big Brother Lin!”
Little Guo’er came sliding across the hardwood foyer in her fluffy bunny slippers. She stopped right in front of Chu Lingxiao. Her large, bright eyes tilted upward, examining the tall young woman in the patched cyan robe.
Chu Lingxiao froze.
