Chapter 112: The Thunder Gryphon's Luxury Suite

The morning sun climbed higher into the eastern skybox, casting long golden shadows across Solitude Spire.

Over on the eastern cliff, the newly manifested Grand Pavilion of the Sovereign Roost hummed with quiet, majestic power.

Its deep midnight-blue star-stone masonry caught the sunlight, sparkling like crushed diamonds against the granite cliffs.

Gentle plumes of aromatic cedar mist drifted from the foundation vents, carrying the comforting scent of sun-baked pine and roasted sunflower seeds across the yard.

Down on the grass, the Imperial Thunder Gryphon let out a low, grumbling whine.

The massive beast had been lying in the clover for fourteen straight hours, and its feathered joints were stiff from the high-altitude morning dew.

It slowly rolled its massive golden head, blinking its saucer-sized yellow eyes at the towering structure fifty yards away.

Its curved nostrils flared.

The gryphon took in a deep, inquiring breath.

Its feathery ear tufts instantly snapped upright.

To an ordinary mortal, the pavilion simply smelled of fresh timber.

To a ninth-tier imperial apex predator whose ancestors hunted storm drakes in the Upper Strata, the scent rising from that building was pure, concentrated ambrosia.

It was the smell of ancient lightning-forged ironwood, sun-drenched celestial hay, and a deep, pulsing thermal undercurrent that resonated with the raw essence of True Yang vitality.

The gryphon pushed itself up on four massive paws, shaking out its golden plumage with a loud, feathery rustle:

*FLAP-FLAP-FLAP-FLAP!*

A few loose golden down feathers floated into the breeze, dissolving into microscopic sparks of violet ozone before they touched the clover.

The beast opened its hooked beak, letting out a soft, inquisitive trill:

*Chirrr-eep?*

Up on the porch, Lyra Ashford leaned against the cedar railing, holding her ancestral silver rapier close against her chest.

Her knuckles turned white as she watched the imperial beast rise.

"The beast stirs," Lyra whispered, her voice taut with tension. "An apex predator of the Ninth Firmament is fiercely territorial. To present it with an unknown domain could provoke its ancient pride. Will it perceive the sanctuary as an insult, or will it recognize the boundless benevolence of the Sovereign?"

Barnaby the clockwork owl stood on his perch beside her, his brass chest clicking in steady rhythm.

*Tick... tick... tick...*

The black rubber stopper remained firmly clamped in the owl’s beak, preventing him from squawking a loud warning that would undoubtedly irritate Felix.

The Thunder Gryphon took one cautious, lumbering step forward.

Its razor-sharp talons dug into the turf, tearing up small clumps of dirt as it stalked toward the open arched gateway.

With every pace, the beast lowered its head, sniffing the air with predatory suspicion.

It paused at the threshold of the pavilion.

The wide archway was flanked by two polished pillars of petrified ironwood that pulsed with faint golden runes.

Beneath its front paws, the cold granite of the mountain ridge abruptly ended, replaced by a smooth walkway of dark river stones.

The moment the gryphon’s paw pads touched the river stones, the beast froze.

Its golden feathers puffed out like an alarmed blowfish.

The stones were warm.

Not merely sun-warmed, but infused with the steady, gentle exhaust of Felix’s Sol-Class stellar core.

A soothing, forty-degree Celsius thermal blanket radiated through the soles of its paws, instantly melting the icy stiffness gathered in its talons.

The gryphon let out a strangled, squeaky purr that sounded like a rusty gate swinging open:

*Mwwwwwrrk?*

It cautiously took another step, crossing the threshold into the main hall.

Inside, the pavilion was a masterpiece of cozy celestial engineering.

The vaulted ceiling arched fifty feet above, ribbed with thick beams of dark ironwood that completely blocked out the howling mountain gales.

Lining the upper clerestory, enchanted latticework filtered the harsh daylight into a soft, honeyed amber glow.

The air was utterly silent.

The thick acoustic baffles woven into the timber absorbed every stray whistle of wind, creating an oasis of pure, tranquil hush.

In the center of the grand chamber sat the master roost.

It was an enormous, elevated basin carved from a single slab of fragrant cedar, twenty feet wide and three feet deep.

Inside the basin lay a thick, luxurious mattress of dried Golden Sun-Hay.

The hay had been harvested from the outer fringes of the Pocket Garden’s virtual fields, cured under the ambient radiation of Felix's internal fusion furnace.

Microscopic static arcs danced across the golden stalks, crackling softly with gentle, rhythmic pops:

*Snap... crackle... ping...*

The Thunder Gryphon stared at the nest.

Its pupils dilated until its eyes were almost solid black.

For eighty years, this beast had served the Sol-Aethel Imperial Vanguard.

It had slept on freezing iron flight decks aboard armored sky-dreadnoughts.

It had endured hail storms, barrage fire from rebel catapults, and the biting cold of the upper troposphere while shackled to heavy steel mooring rings.

Never in its entire existence had it seen a bed designed purely for luxury.

The gryphon took two hurried, waddling steps toward the wooden ramp leading up to the basin.

It hopped onto the rim of the cedar roost, testing the hay with one front claw.

The golden stalks yielded beneath its weight with a plush, cloud-like softness, enveloping its paw in warm, crackling static bliss.

The beast didn't hesitate.

It practically threw its forty-foot bulk into the center of the nest.

*FOOOOOOMPH.*

The golden hay billowed upward like a golden explosion, settling gently over its wings, back, and ears.

The gryphon rolled onto its side, curling its massive front paws beneath its feathery chest.

Its long, leonine tail wrapped neatly around its hind legs, tucking its feathered rump against the warm cedar wall.

A deep, reverberating sigh rumbled through its chest:

*HUUUUUURRRRRRRR.*

The underfloor star-stone heating radiated upward through the hay, warming its belly.

The microscopic static charges dancing across the golden stalks acted like thousands of tiny, vibrating massage needles, working through the knots in its wing muscles and soothing its battle-scarred tendons.

Within three breaths, the Imperial Thunder Gryphon’s eyelids turned to lead.

Its beak cracked open slightly, letting out a small, bubbly trail of saliva that dripped onto the fragrant straw.

Then came the snore.

*HRRRRRRR-CHOOOOO-ZZZZZZ!*

A burst of violet static flared inside its nostrils, but before the lightning could scorch the room, the runes along the cedar basin absorbed the charge, converting the electrical burst into an extra pulse of soothing radiant heat.

The sound of its snore hit the ironwood ceiling, where the acoustic dampening turned the mountain-shattering blast into the gentle, rhythmic thrum of an oversized house cat.

Down by the arched gateway, Lord Nether-Bane, the skeletal Ghost King, peered around the doorframe.

The ancient monarch of the dead still held his garden rake in his bony hands.

His bleached jaw hung open, his emerald soul-flames flickering with deep, philosophical bewilderment.

"An Imperial War Beast..." Nether-Bane rasped, his voice barely a whisper in his ribs. "A creature whose screech once scattered the sky-legions of the southern frontier... brought down to absolute, blissful vegetative stupor by a pile of warm grass."

The Ghost King looked at his own rake, then down at his stained hemp apron.

"First it was me," the skeleton murmured, shaking his skull. "Stripped of my spectral army and handed a hoe to weed cabbages. Now it is the Emperor's apex war hound, turned into a pampered barn chicken. Truly, under the Sovereign's sky, all pride returns to the soil."

Behind him, two void corsairs nodded in solemn, spectral agreement, their floating wicker baskets bobbing gently in the doorway.

Back up on the porch, the wooden screen door creaked open.

Felix Vance stepped out into the sunlight.

He wore his faded gray hemp tunic, his loose brown trousers, and his straw slippers.

In his left hand, he held the white porcelain Infinite Cozy Teacup, which was gently steaming with hot black tea.

In his right hand, he held the crust of a slice of toasted bread smeared with a thin layer of sweet plum jam.

Felix took a bite of the toast, chewing slowly as he walked to the railing.

He looked over at the eastern cliff.

The grand pavilion stood tall and peaceful against the morning clouds.

No forty-foot golden beast was blocking the gravel path to the outhouse.

No stray lightning arcs were zapping the blackberry bushes.

The lawn was completely, beautifully clear.

Felix nodded in silent satisfaction.

"Finally," Felix said, taking a sip of tea. "Clean walkway. Zero tripping hazards."

Lyra turned toward him, her face shining with religious fervor.

"Senior Brother," she said, her voice trembling with emotion. "You have performed a miracle of spiritual pacification. The beast's inner lightning was wild, turbulent, and destructive. But within the sacred matrix of the Grand Pavilion, its primordial Qi has entered a state of perfect hibernation. You have tamed an imperial calamity without shedding a single drop of blood."

Felix blinked at her, swallows his mouthful of toast, and pulled out the AetherDeck.

He tapped the screen with a jam-sticky thumb.

Felix looked at the screen, thoroughly pleased.

"Fifty units of fertilizer an hour," Felix murmured. "That's three times the yield of regular compost. The cabbage growth rate is going to hit peak efficiency by tomorrow afternoon."

He looked toward the pavilion and focused his vision on the massive lump of golden feathers snoring happily in the hay.

The Inspector HUD flared into focus:

【Target: Imperial Thunder Gryphon (In Residence)】 【Age: 142 Years】 【Cultivation: Ninth-Tier Calamity Apex Mount】 【Current Status: Food Coma / Luxury Rot】 【Inspector Note: Has completely forgotten its imperial military training. Would not wake up even if an enemy fleet bombed the mountain. Will happily trade its sacred soul-blood for a scratch behind the ears and a heated blanket.】

Felix smiled faintly.

"Good pet," Felix said. "Eat, sleep, produce fertilizer, and stay off the grass. If only all the NPCs in this world were this low-maintenance."

Lyra clasped her hands together in silent prayer, watching Felix casually munch on his toast.

*'To reduce a legendary ninth-tier calamity beast to a humble garden protector!'* Lyra thought, her eyes glistening. *'Senior Brother’s Dao of Inaction does not merely conquer enemies—it transforms the very nature of existence! He offers harmony, warmth, and peace to all things under heaven. Who could ever resist such boundless grace?'*

A gentle breeze blew across the spire, carrying the distant, muted snores of the gryphon into the open sky.

Barnaby’s clockwork gears clicked softly on the porch beam:

*Tick... tick... tick...*

Felix leaned against the post, took another sip of hot tea, and watched a white cloud drift past the edge of the world.

"Another quiet afternoon," Felix said, closing his eyes. "Time for a nap."
