The morning sky above the Seventh Spire was bright, cool, and completely obstructed by three colossal iron battleships.
They were the pride of the Western Skies armada: the *Iron Behemoth*, the *Thunder-Vane*, and the *Solar-Bane*.
Each warship measured eight hundred feet from reinforced prow to stern mana thrusters, bristling with heavy runic cannons and dark steel armor plates.
Normally, an aerial fleet of this caliber reduced entire mountain ranges to smoking craters.
Currently, however, the three dreadnoughts were not reducing anything.
They were hopelessly stuck.
Ever since entering Solitude Spire's airspace three days ago, their steering rudders had locked completely.
The binary gravitational resonance from Felix Vance's dantian held them trapped in a frictionless, perfectly stationary geostationary orbit two thousand feet above the valley floor.
Their massive spirit-burners screamed at full reverse thrust, churning out blue mana vapor.
Yet despite burning thirty thousand spirit stones an hour, the battleships could not drift even a single millimeter backward.
They simply hung in the blue sky like three colossal, decorative metal ornaments nailed to the skybox.

Down on the cedar porch of the Seventh Spire cottage, Felix Vance stepped outside with a slow yawn.
He wore oversized gray sleeping trousers and his bright yellow dragon-scale poncho.
The waterproof scales were pleasantly warm, having soaked up the morning sun like a personal electric blanket.
Felix strolled to the low cedar table and settled into his wooden recliner.
Underneath the table's front left leg, Grandmaster Vivienne's purple Sovereign Heart Seal held the heavy furniture completely rigid against the floorboards.
Beside his elbow, the fist-sized Soul-Pearl paperweight kept a stack of unread academy notices from blowing away in the breeze.
Felix lifted the white porcelain Infinite Cozy Teacup and took a quiet sip.
*Slurp.*
The roasted barley tea washed over his tongue at a steady 68.5°C, instantly restoring his depleted morning stamina bar.
"Ah," Felix murmured, staring into the canyon. "Zero morning lag today. That’s a good sign."
On the brass perch mounted beside the railing, Barnaby the clockwork owl stood at rigid attention.
A thick black rubber stopper remained firmly wedged into the owl’s brass beak, locking the polished copper tip in an airtight grip.
Barnaby’s amber crystal lenses glowed with faint indignation, but zero pompous lectures escaped his throat.
Instead, his internal gears produced a steady, rhythmic cadence:
*Tick... tick... tock.*
Felix nodded approvingly. "Good boy, Barnaby. Keep the volume muted. Silence is the best setting."
Down on the lawn, Lord Nether-Bane and his two spectral corsairs were raking fallen needles, their translucent ribs wrapped in clean hemp aprons.
Up on the roof, Patriarch Ao Cang lay coiled in his eight-foot obsidian wyrm form, sunning his back while resting his chin above the mythic brass downspout.
Beside him, the three azure flood dragons and the little emerald wyrm sprawled across the shingles like lazy blue ribbons.
Everything on Solitude Spire was peaceful and orderly.
Except for one glaring practical issue.
Beside the porch steps sat two large wicker baskets overflowing with damp laundry.
Felix had spent yesterday evening soaking his spare yellow ponchos, linen bedsheets, and gray cotton socks in the rain barrel.
Now, a brisk mountain breeze blew through the valley, but Felix had nowhere to hang them.
Solitude Spire’s iron-wood pines were far too short to catch the high-altitude crossbreeze.
If he strung lines between the porch posts, the dripping sheets would block his view while he tried to nap.
Felix rubbed his chin, staring upward into the sky.
His gaze naturally landed on the three eight-hundred-foot dreadnoughts hovering motionless above his garden.
"Look at that," Felix said, squinting at the warships. "Three massive steel pylons just sitting there taking up screen space."
He pulled the brass-cased AetherDeck from his poncho pocket.
Unlocking the slate, he opened *Pocket Garden: Cozy Harvest* and navigated to the construction submenu:
Felix tapped `[YES]`.
He glanced at the HUD tooltip hovering over the floating battleships:
【Target: Orbiting Western Dreadnoughts】 【Status: Structurally Over-Engineered High-Altitude Clothesline Poles】 【Wind Speed at 2,000 Feet: 35 Knots (Optimal Fabric Dehydration)】 【Inspector Note: These multi-million-gold war galleons possess reinforced mithril cleats rated for high-stress towing. They are currently doing nothing but wasting fuel and ruining your sunrise. Repurposing them into a valley-wide laundry suspension grid provides a +200% drying speed buff and completely eliminates porch clutter.】
"A drying speed buff," Felix said, nodding slowly. "Now that is efficient base management."
He stood up from his recliner and walked to the porch railing.
"Nether-Bane," Felix called out. "Bring the spools of silk cord from the tool shed."
"At once, Milord!" Nether-Bane replied, saluting crisply with his garden rake. "Lads, drop the compost shovels! The Master has issued mobilization orders!"
Felix whistled up toward the roofline.
"Ao Cang. Take your cousins up there. I need someone to carry the lines up to those metal boats."
Patriarch Ao Cang raised his sleek obsidian head, his amber eyes blazing with sudden awe.
*He needs us to fly the lines to the enemy flagships!* Ao Cang thought, his ancient soul trembling. *The Master intends to cast the Great Void Binding Array across their mortal fleet!*
"We hear and obey, Primordial Sovereign!" Ao Cang roared, his voice shaking the mountain mist.
With a magnificent sweep of scales, the four dragons launched into the azure sky, spiraling upward toward the dreadnoughts like living lightning.

Two thousand feet above, on the primary bridge of the *Iron Behemoth*, Admiral Vane gripped his ceremonial saber with white knuckles.
"Report!" Vane barked, his voice cracking. "Can we back out of this damnable valley?"
"Negative, Admiral!" the chief helmsman shouted, straining against the steering wheel. "The rudder refuses to budge! We are held fast by an unseen celestial tether!"
"It's a ninth-tier spatial lock," the flagship's high battle-mage whimpered, clutching his cracked staff. "Whoever resides on that peak has pinned our entire battle group with an effortless exertion of will!"
Suddenly, the bridge lookouts screamed.
"Incoming hostiles! High-tier celestial drakes breaching the clouds!"
Admiral Vane braced himself against the chart table. "Man the ballistas! Die with honor, men of the West—"
*Clack.*
The sound was not an explosion.
It was the metallic ring of a heavy brass carabiner snapping around the muzzle of the flagship's forward mana cannon.
Admiral Vane froze.
Through the quartz glass, he saw Patriarch Ao Cang hovering twenty feet away.
The ancient Calamity wyrm did not breathe fire.
Instead, Ao Cang carefully wrapped a length of braided cloud-silk cord three times around the heavy cannon barrel, tying it off with a neat double-looped trucker's hitch.
*Squeak.*
The dragon tugged on the rope to test the tension, nodded with quiet satisfaction, and turned his serpentine gaze into the bridge.
Ao Cang pointed one razor-sharp claw at Admiral Vane.
The dragon’s voice boomed directly into the minds of every officer on board:
*‘Do not touch this knot. Do not fire this cannon. If you shake this line, the wet laundry will fall into the canyon mud, and the Master will be severely displeased.’*
Before Admiral Vane could even begin to process the command, the azure flood dragons swept across the sky.
They carried the long silk lines to the *Thunder-Vane*, looping them securely around its mainmast, before extending the web across to the stern gantry of the *Solar-Bane*.
Within ten minutes, a massive, triangular web of high-altitude suspension cables hung between the three dreadnoughts, anchoring them together and running straight down to an iron winch beside Felix's garden shed.
And then, the payload ascended.
Nether-Bane cranked the winch with rhythmic vigor.
Dozens of wooden clothespins slid rapidly up the lines like miniature cable cars.
First came the festival bunting: five hundred meters of brightly colored triangular flags—cherry red, canary yellow, and sky blue—fluttering merrily in the brisk breeze.
Next came the laundry.
Two enormous white bedsheets billowed out like square sails between the battleship prows.
Behind them hung Felix's oversized gray linen shirts, followed by eight pairs of mismatched wool socks dangling directly beneath the fleet's supreme siege artillery.
Finally, string fairy lights wrapped around the entire perimeter of the cables, their glass bulbs catching the morning sunlight like strings of sparkling gems.
From below, it did not look like an invaded military airspace.
It looked like a cheerful, floating county fair held at thirty thousand feet.

Five miles across the valley, on the grand observation terrace of the First Spire, the high leadership of Radiant Dawn Academy stood in stunned silence.
Chancellor Valen, dressed in starched golden robes, had his eye glued to the brass eyepiece of the Great Astral Reflector.
Beside him, twelve Discipline Elders clutched their swords, having prepared all morning for the inevitable bombardment of the Seventh Spire.
"Chancellor!" Elder Hall gasped, trembling with dread. "The Western Armada has positioned their heavy flagships in a triangular siege formation! What horrifying dark ritual are they preparing to unleash?"
Valen did not speak for a long time.
His breathing grew shallow. His collar felt uncomfortably tight.
Through the powerful telescope lenses, Valen saw the proud flagship *Iron Behemoth*.
He saw its legendary dreadnought cannon.
And clamped securely to the tip of that terrifying barrel was a damp pair of gray wool socks with reinforced heel patches.
"This is..." Valen whispered, his golden hairpins rattling. "This is beyond terrifying."
"What is it, Chancellor?" Elder Hall urged. "A blood sacrifice? A void-calling hex?"
"It is the *Inter-Stellar Seal of Absolute Dominance*," Valen breathed, his eyes wide with horrifying enlightenment. "Look at the formation! Senior Brother Vance has turned their supreme instruments of conquest into crude wooden stakes for his dimensional binding matrix!"
The surrounding elders gasped, falling into terrified murmurs.
"The triangular flags!" an astrologer cried. "The three colors represent the Trinity of the Sun, the Earth, and the Void! It is an ancient suppression talisman written across the sky itself!"
"And those glowing orbs strung along the ley-cables!" another elder shouted. "They are Celestial Spirit Nodes! He has established an open-air resonance barrier across the entire three-mile chasm!"
"To force an invading armada's proudest dreadnoughts to hoist your personal banners..." Elder Hall whispered, bowing his head in sheer awe. "Such absolute contempt for worldly power! Senior Brother Vance does not view the Western Empire as an enemy. He views them as mere scaffolding for his cosmic estate!"

Back on Solitude Spire, Lyra Ashford stepped out of the cottage kitchen carrying a plate of warm sesame flatbread.
She walked onto the porch and stopped, gazing up at the sky.
The triangular bunting fluttered with cheerful snaps in the crisp wind.
Felix’s yellow poncho and linen shirts billowed rhythmically, drying at three times their normal speed in the pristine mountain air.
Lyra lowered her gaze to Felix, who was leaning back in his recliner with his hands behind his head, admiring the sky-lines.
*He did this in less than twenty minutes,* Lyra thought, her heart swelling with awe and fierce pride. *The Ashford Clan fought three bitter border wars against Admiral Vane’s battle group, losing hundreds of sky-galleons to those very cannons.*
*Yet Senior Brother... with a few spools of silk and four dragons... has rendered their entire military doctrine completely irrelevant. He has stripped their pride, bound their weapons, and turned their invasion into a domestic festival.*
*His Dao of Idle Supremacy leaves no room for resistance. To oppose him is to become his porch decoration.*
She set the flatbread on the table beside his teacup, bowing respectfully.
"Senior Brother," Lyra said softly. "Your Sky-Line Seal is magnificent. The entire academy is trembling before your cosmic authority."
Felix blinked, glancing from the fluttering socks down to the sesame flatbread.
He picked up a warm piece of bread and took a slow bite.
*Crunch.*
"Cosmic authority?" Felix mumbled around the bread, glancing up at the distant battleships. "I just wanted to get the laundry off the porch so it wouldn't smell like damp wool all afternoon."
He opened his AetherDeck, noting that the drying timer had dropped from six hours to forty-two minutes.
"Though honestly," Felix grumbled, chewing quietly, "the line tension physics are still weirdly glitchy. The left sheet is sagging by two inches. I’ll probably have to patch that before my afternoon nap."
He closed his eyes, let the warm sun hit his yellow poncho, and took another long sip of his 68.5°C tea, perfectly content with his morning upgrades.
