Chapter 167: The Dredged Dreadnought Scrap

Early afternoon heat settled over the quiet gardens of Solitude Spire.

Felix Vance rubbed his eyes, stretched his arms, and pushed himself up from his cedar recliner.

His three-hour AFK nap had yielded twelve thousand units of idle astral energy, along with four bags of standard-grade fertilizer.

He picked up his Infinite Cozy Teacup from the low table.

Even after three hours in the open air, the roasted barley brew remained locked at exactly 68.5°C.

*Slurp.*

Felix let out a satisfied breath, enjoying the smooth warmth sliding down his throat.

Beside the table leg, the purple Sovereign Heart Seal held the cedar frame completely rigid, ignoring the slight tilt of the flagstone floor.

On the table surface, the glowing Soul-Pearl paperweight pinned down a fresh delivery receipt from the lower peaks.

Over on the railing, Barnaby the Clockwork Owl stood with his black rubber stopper firmly clamped between his brass mandibles.

The copper tip jutting from the rubber gleamed brightly in the midday sun.

Barnaby gave a single, annoyed shudder, his internal balance springs clicking in muted frustration.

*Click-tock-whirrr.*

"Enjoying the silence, Barnaby?" Felix asked, tapping the owl's brass shoulder. "Yeah, me too. Best five copper coins I ever spent."

Leaving the porch, Felix took a slow stroll across the clover lawn in his yellow dragon-scale poncho.

Near the luxury coop, a commotion caught his attention.

The Imperial Thunder Gryphon was stomping back and forth along the enclosure fence, clicking its beak with deep agitation.

*SQUAWK!*

The massive golden-feathered beast had its sleep goggles pushed up over its brow, glaring furiously at the lower fence line.

Felix walked over and knelt down by the cedar posts.

"What's the matter, buddy?" Felix asked. "Did you drop your seeds?"

The gryphon let out a pitiful, ruffled squawk, turning its backside toward Felix.

Three long, shimmering golden flight feathers were wedged tightly in a jagged, corroded loop of rusty iron wire.

Felix examined the fence.

The original wire mesh—bought from a cheap traveling merchant three months ago—had rusted completely through from the recent thunderstorms and mountain mist.

Several strands had snapped, creating sharp, jagged edges that snagged on anything passing by.

"Rusty chicken wire," Felix sighed, carefully untangling the gryphon's tail feathers. "Cheap galvanized junk. Figures the durability stat on basic iron fencing would degrade after two rain cycles."

The gryphon rubbed its feathery head against Felix’s shoulder, letting out a soft, purring chirp of gratitude.

"Hang tight," Felix said, patting its beak. "I'll patch the run before you tear a wing."

Felix pulled his AetherDeck from his poncho pocket.

He navigated to the *Pocket Garden: Base Builder* interface and tapped the crafting tab for perimeter structures.

Felix tapped his chin with the corner of the obsidian slate.

"Zero scrap," Felix muttered. "And I'm definitely not walking down five thousand stone steps to swing a pickaxe in the mines."

He swiped to the next page of the utility menu.

A newly unlocked icon glowed at the bottom of the screen:

`[FACILITY UTILITY: RECYCLE & SALVAGE]`

Felix tapped the icon.

A wireframe radar sweep appeared on the screen, mapping the immediate airspace above Solitude Spire.

Floating in neat, concentric circles three thousand feet above the peak were the thirty surrendered coalition dreadnoughts.

Because Grand Marshal Vane-Talon had signed the guestbook that morning, the fleet’s ownership had been automatically assigned to Solitude Spire’s local asset registry.

Every warship was cataloged with its full physical mass, hull integrity, and decommission status.

Felix scrolled through the list of vessels.

Most of them were active troop transports, supply galleons, and command cruisers.

However, at the outer edge of the formation sat vessel number twenty-eight: the *Obsidian Gorgon*.

It was an ancient, decommissioned siege-ram dreadnought.

Its bow was an eight-hundred-foot wedge of solid void-iron, its mainmast was cracked, and its propulsion arrays were leaking smoke.

According to the guestbook manifest, its crew of four hundred had already evacuated down to the tent city on the lower ridge to trade dried salt pork with Nether-Bane.

The vessel was completely empty.

Felix pressed his thumb against the entry:

"Eight million tons of scrap metal just taking up parking space," Felix said, shaking his head. "The developers really need to add an auto-sell toggle for surrendered trash mobs."

He casually tapped the glowing prompt:

`[ EXECUTE DISMANTLE ]`

*Ping.*

Down in the gravel courtyard, Grand Marshal Vane-Talon was sitting on an overturned timber stump.

He was sipping a wooden bowl of weak vegetable broth handed to him by a spectral corsair, trying to steady his frayed nerves.

Beside him, Lyra Ashford was carefully pruning a nearby solar mint shrub with silver shears.

Suddenly, the ambient light in the courtyard shifted.

A hum of absolute cosmic authority resonated through the atmosphere, vibrating not through the ears, but directly across the soul.

Vane-Talon dropped his wooden bowl.

The broth spilled onto the gravel as the Grand Marshal snapped his gaze upward.

High in the sky, a thin, golden grid of geometric light—resembling a translucent net woven from starlight—descended over the *Obsidian Gorgon*.

The mile-long siege dreadnought, forged from void-titanium capable of ramming mountain ranges into gravel, was enveloped in the golden lattice.

There was no explosion.

There was no thunderous crack of structural failure.

Instead, an eerie, terrifying silence gripped the sky.

The colossal black warship dissolved into millions of glowing, thumb-sized golden cubes.

The cubes swirled in a majestic, spiraling vortex, converging into a single, hair-thin beam of pure starlight that shot directly downward toward the spire.

The beam struck the obsidian screen of Felix’s AetherDeck with a cheerful digital chime:

*Ding-ding-ding!*

The entire sky where the mile-long dreadnought had hung moments before was now completely empty.

Zero wreckage fell.

Zero smoke lingered.

The ship had simply been unmade from the fabric of reality.

Grand Marshal Vane-Talon fell backward off his timber stump, scrambling on his hands and knees across the sharp gravel.

His eyes were wide, bloodshot, and filled with paralyzing existential horror.

"The... the *Gorgon*..." Vane-Talon choked out, his throat dry as desert sand. "Eight million tons of ancient void-titanium... tempered in the fires of seven astral realms... gone in the blink of a mortal eye!"

He clawed at his chest plate, gasping for breath.

"He did not fire a cannon! He did not summon a divine meteor! He... he simply un-wove its primordial matter back into the void!"

Up along the cedar eaves of the cottage roof, Patriarch Ao Cang poked his sleek obsidian head out from beneath the rafters.

The dragon king's golden whiskers quivered violently as he looked at the empty patch of sky.

"The Primordial Disassembly Dao..." Ao Cang rasped to the three azure flood dragons beside him. "The Master has demonstrated the ultimate punishment! Those who refuse to honor their maintenance contracts will not merely die—their very substance will be recycled into raw dust for his workshop!"

The three young dragons whimpered, immediately tucking their tails tighter against the brass downspout brackets, determined to blow away every single stray leaf that dared fall within fifty leagues of the roof.

Lyra Ashford stood frozen among the mint bushes, her silver shears trembling in her grip.

*Terrifying,* Lyra thought, her heart pounding with religious reverence.

*Senior Brother did not deconstruct that warship out of anger.*

*It was a calculated, effortless display of absolute cosmic dominion!*

*He dismantled a fleet-tier dreadnought as casually as a scholar setting aside a scrap piece of parchment!*

*He is showing the Western Coalition that their proudest war machines are nothing more than raw building blocks for his sacred sanctuary!*

Meanwhile, over by the luxury coop, Felix Vance stretched his back and let out a small burp.

"Fifty thousand scrap," Felix murmured, scrolling through his newly filled crafting inventory. "Not bad for an old cruiser. Now let's see about this chicken wire."

He navigated back to the *Hardware Crafting Terminal*.

He selected the heavy perimeter mesh, set the quantity slider to forty yards, and hit `[CRAFT]`.

*Pop-pop-clink.*

A soft, golden glow illuminated the grass at Felix’s feet.

A heavy, tightly rolled spool of shimmering dark-violet wire mesh materialized on the lawn with a solid thud.

Felix knelt down and pulled out his Inspector HUD:

【Item: Indestructible Void-Titanium Coop Mesh】 【Material: Refined 9th-Stage Void-Titanium Alloy】 【Defense Rating: 99,999 / 99,999】 【Durability: Infinite (Immune to Acid, Storms, and Dragon Fire)】 【Inspector Note: A perimeter chicken wire woven from the armor plates of an eight-million-ton dreadnought. Capable of withstanding direct orbital kinetic strikes and apocalyptic heavenly lightning. Currently being used to keep three chickens and a lazy gryphon from wandering into the cabbage patch.】

"Now that's what I call a proper fence," Felix nodded in approval.

He unrolled the violet mesh along the cedar fence line.

The metal was cool, smooth, and possessed a satisfying, heavy weight.

Using a small brass hammer and a handful of sturdy iron staples, Felix secured the mesh to the four-by-four cedar corner posts.

*Tink. Tink. Tink.*

Each staple drove smoothly into the wood, stretching the void-titanium wire taut across the enclosure.

The dark-violet wire shimmered faintly in the sunlight, casting intricate geometric patterns of shadow across the fresh pine shavings inside the roost.

The Imperial Thunder Gryphon waddled over, tilting its head sideways to inspect the new boundary.

It reached out with its massive, razor-sharp beak and gave the mesh an experimental peck.

*CLANG!*

A crisp, musical chime rang out.

Zero scratches appeared on the dark metal.

The wire didn't even vibrate.

The gryphon let out a joyful, trilling squawk, happily rubbing its feathered cheek against the indestructible wire, purring like a giant mechanical kitten.

"There you go," Felix said, dusting off his hands. "No more snagged tail feathers. Try not to chew on it."

Felix walked back to the porch, shaking his head.

"Cost me one hundred and twenty scrap for forty yards of fence," Felix grumbled under his breath as he climbed the cedar stairs. "Crafting recipe markup in this game is ridiculous. A whole dreadnought only gets you enough wire for a few coops and maybe a garden gate."

He sank back down into his cedar recliner, picked up his Infinite Cozy Teacup, and took another soothing sip.

*Slurp.*

68.5°C. Flawless equilibrium.

Down in the courtyard, Grand Marshal Vane-Talon watched in stunned, speech-defying silence as the mortal sovereign used the pulverized armor of his proudest dreadnought to patch a five-foot chicken run.

The Grand Marshal looked down at his own trembling hands.

Then he looked at the happy gryphon purring behind eight million tons of recycled void-titanium.

*He recycled an imperial war-ram... to protect a chicken coop,* Vane-Talon thought, a hysterical, breathless laugh escaping his throat.

*The gods themselves could not fathom such majesty.*

*We did not lose to a military commander.*

*We surrendered to the architect of reality itself.*

Felix kicked his feet back up onto the vegetable crate, pulled his yellow poncho tight around his chest, and watched the clouds drift across the upper sky.

"Good afternoon's work," Felix murmured, closing his eyes. "Time to queue up five hours of passive cabbage growth."
