Chapter 180: The Council's Emergency Conclave

The sun was climbing toward noon, casting warm golden sheets of light through the iron-pine boughs of Solitude Spire.

At the foot of the crooked timber bridge that connected the Seventh Spire to the outer mountain paths, an extraordinary delegation had assembled.

Chancellor Valen stood at the head of the procession, his ceremonial purple robes billowing in the mountain wind.

Behind him were twenty-four Senior Elders of the Radiant Dawn Academy, three Grand Inquisitors carrying runic suppression chains, and six Master Alchemists clutching spiritual ward basins.

Every elder had their teeth clenched, their aura flared in maximum defensive posture, and their spiritual senses extended to the limit.

They stood at the edge of the bridge, staring across the gap at the peaceful, weed-grown yard.

Beside Valen stood Grand Marshal Vane-Talon.

The former supreme commander of the Western Iron Armada was still dressed in his coarse gray apprentice tunic, with a clean hemp waist-tie cinched around his barrel chest.

He held a wooden water ladle in one hand and a bucket of seasoned pine sawdust in the other.

"Grand Marshal," Valen whispered, his voice trembling as he wiped a bead of cold sweat from his lip. "Are you certain... are you truly certain it is safe to approach? The celestial rift above Sector Nine has widened by three hundred paces. The divination astrolabes report that the Abyssal Sovereign’s vanguard armada has dropped anchor in the extra-planar ether!"

Vane-Talon gave Valen a slow, pitying look.

"Chancellor, the only danger you face on this bridge is stepping on the fresh moss," Vane-Talon replied gruffly. "Senior Felix spent twenty minutes clearing the corrupted cache this morning so the mountain looks presentable. If you scuff the stone path with your heavy iron-shod boots, I will personally throw you into the ravine."

Valen swallowed hard, glancing back at his heavily armored inquisitors.

"Remove your boots," Valen commanded in a frantic hiss. "All of you! Bare feet or soft cloth slippers only! If a single hobnail rattles against the pavers, I will personally strip your cultivation rank!"

The elite inquisitors of the law pavilion hastily tore off their enchanted war-boots, shivering as their bare toes touched the cold morning stone.

Carefully, reverently, the delegation tiptoed across the wooden bridge.

As they crossed the boundary line of Solitude Spire, the suffocating existential dread that had gripped the kingdom since dawn suddenly vanished.

The air inside the spire’s boundary was fresh, cool, and perfectly balanced.

A faint, pleasant scent of roasted barley and wild honey drifted from the porch.

In the garden, Lord Nether-Bane was humming a discordant sea shanty under his breath, carefully applying fresh loam to the base of the five-star Sun-Lotus Cabbages.

Up on the cedar porch, Felix Vance was sitting sideways in his wooden armchair.

His straw slippers dangled off the edge of the floorboards, and his straw hat was pushed back, revealing his messy brown hair.

In his right hand, Felix was holding a strange object.

It was a jagged, curved fragment of oily black chitin, roughly two feet long, tapering into a fine, needle-sharp point.

It was the severed mandible tip of Void Scout-Captain Vrr'Kael’s annihilated flagship—a piece of dense, extra-dimensional void chitin capable of surviving the heat of supernovas.

Felix reached behind his back, shoving the multi-million-year-old abyssal artifact down the collar of his gray linen tunic.

He began scratching an unreachable spot between his shoulder blades.

*Scritch... scritch... scritch.*

Felix let out a long, luxurious groan of pure relief.

"Oh yeah," Felix muttered, closing his eyes in bliss. "Right there. Right between the ribs. Man, that itch was driving me crazy all morning."

Chancellor Valen froze three paces from the porch steps, his jaw dropping so low it nearly dislocated.

The twenty-four elders behind him turned pale, their knees trembling as they recognized the abyssal relic.

"The... the Void Reaver Mandible..." an alchemical elder gasped in a choked whisper, clutching his chest. "An artifact infused with the negative-mass entropy of the Abyssal Core... an alloy so corrosive it can dissolve an emperor-grade flying fortress on contact..."

"He... he is using it as a backscratcher," Valen croaked, his vision swimming. "He stuck it down his shirt like a broken bamboo chopstick."

Felix stopped scratching, opened one eye, and looked down at the crowd of barefoot archmages standing in his courtyard.

"Can I help you guys?" Felix asked, his voice dripping with mild annoyance. "Visiting hours don't start until two PM. And why aren't you wearing shoes? The ground is cold. You're gonna track dirt onto my clean porch."

Valen dropped to both knees on the grass, pressing his forehead against the clover before Felix could finish his sentence.

"Senior Sovereign!" Valen cried out, his voice shaking with emotional exhaustion. "This humble disciple, Chancellor Valen, begs for your divine guidance! The Great Abyssal Rift has opened above our realm! The Void Fleet approaches with twelve world-devouring dreadnoughts led by the titan Mor'Ghulath!"

The twenty-four elders and the barefoot inquisitors collapsed alongside Valen, bowing in unison until the courtyard was a carpet of purple robes.

"Please, Senior Sovereign!" the elders pleaded. "Instruct us! How shall the Radiant Dawn Academy prepare for the coming extinction?!"

Felix paused, pulling the black chitin claw out from behind his back.

He inspected the tip, noticing a bit of lint caught in the serrations.

【Item: Severed Abyssal Mandible Fragment】 【Material: Negative-Mass Void Chitin】 【Durability: Infinite (Indestructible)】 【Inspector Note: Previous owner was an arrogant space lobster who got bisected by a watering can. Perfectly curved ergonomics for scratching hard-to-reach thoracic vertebrae. Vendor sell value: 3 coppers. Keep it as a permanent utility prop.】

"Extinction?" Felix echoed, tossing the chitin claw onto the cedar table beside his tea mug.

*Clack.*

The table did not wobble, held perfectly firm by the Sovereign Heart Seal beneath its left leg.

Felix picked up his chipped porcelain mug, taking a leisurely sip of his warm tea.

"You guys really need to stop getting your robes in a twist every time an asset glitches," Felix said, leaning his chin in his palm. "The skybox has a rendering bug. A rogue polygon dropped into the mountain. I cleared the cache and deleted the corrupted mesh. It’s fine."

Valen looked up, his lilac eyes filled with desperate, searching confusion.

"A... a rendering bug?" Valen whispered. "You speak of the dimensional barrier between the Nine Heavens and the Void Sea?!"

"Yeah, whatever you call it," Felix sighed, waving his hand dismissively. "The server host probably forgot to renew their cloud hosting license. Just ignore the black square in the sky. If you don't look at it, it won't drop your frame rate."

Valen gasped.

The breath trapped itself in his throat.

Behind him, High Inquisitor Kaelen began trembling with religious epiphany.

'If you do not look at it, it will not drop your frame rate...' Kaelen thought, repeating the sacred words in his spiritual sea. 'To acknowledge the void is to grant it reality! The outer dark thrives on fear and observation! The Senior Sovereign is teaching us the ultimate secret of existence: the universe exists only because consciousness perceives it! By treating the abyssal fleet as non-existent, their power over this realm is rendered completely null!'

Kaelen struck his forehead against the stone path, weeping openly.

"The Dao of Non-Observation!" Kaelen wept. "To look away is to conquer! To ignore is to erase! Senior Sovereign, your wisdom reaches beyond the Ninth Heaven!"

Felix stared at the weeping inquisitor, his eye twitching.

"I literally just said don't look at the graphical glitch because it looks ugly," Felix muttered, rubbing his temples. "Why does everything turn into a philosophy lecture with you people?"

Grand Marshal Vane-Talon stepped forward, offering Felix a respectful, low bow.

"Senior Felix," Vane-Talon rumbled softly. "The academy council was merely concerned about the noise. Should the remaining twelve void dreadnoughts attempt to enter the airspace, shall this servant instruct the one hundred and eight moonlets to remain in defensive formation?"

Felix looked up at the sky, where his captured Western dreadnoughts were peacefully blinking with colorful paper lanterns.

"Tell your guys not to mess up the lantern wiring," Felix replied. "I set those lights to twinkle on an eight-hour loop. If someone shorts out the battery, the nighttime porch view is ruined."

"This servant understands," Vane-Talon said with absolute solemnity. "The lantern illumination shall be maintained with our lives."

Felix yawned, stretching his arms high above his head until his spine made a loud, satisfying *crack*.

He reached for the cotton quilt at the foot of his hammock.

"Alright, conclave dismissed," Felix announced, swinging his legs back onto the woven ropes. "I've been awake for forty-five minutes straight. That’s enough productivity for one day. Don't make any noise when you cross the bridge."

He pulled the quilt over his chest, pulled his straw hat over his eyes, and rolled onto his side.

Within thirty seconds, his breathing slowed into a steady, rhythmic, peaceful slumber.

Beneath his ribcage, the 1.0-Earth-Mass Sol-Class stellar core and its dense white dwarf companion settled into a harmonious, warm hum, projecting a steady sixty-nine-degree comfort field across the entire peak.

Chancellor Valen slowly rose to his feet, motioning for the elders to retreat with agonizing care.

"Walk softly," Valen whispered, tears of divine peace glistening in his eyes. "The Sovereign has spoken. The void is nothing. The lanterns are everything. We shall guard his slumber until the end of time."

The twenty-four elders and the inquisitors crept backward across the bridge in their bare feet, holding their breath until they reached the outer ridge.

Over on the roof beam, Barnaby the Clockwork Owl puffed out his brass feathers.

The black rubber stopper in his beak was firmly seated, and his polished copper tip caught the warm afternoon light.

*Tick... tock... click.*

Far above in the dimensional rift, the twelve colossal dreadnoughts of Void Titan Mor'Ghulath were preparing to emerge.

They were bringing extinction, madness, and universal dissolution.

And down on Solitude Spire, Felix Vance was already five minutes into his afternoon nap.
