Chapter 217: The Great Planetary Alignment

When Felix Vance woke up from his 432 Hz power nap, the first thing he did was open the mini-map on his AetherDeck.

He wanted to see if any new idle resource nodes had spawned in the surrounding territory.

As the holographic projection expanded above the glass screen, however, Felix’s eyebrows twitched with intense, visceral irritation.

The planetary map of Aethelgard looked like a disaster zone.

Floating in the upper troposphere above the main planetary crust were eight colossal sky-continents—ancient geological landmasses held aloft by primordial anti-gravity spirit crystals.

The problem was where they were floating.

One sky-continent was drifting at an awkward thirty-seven-degree tilt toward the eastern ocean.

Two smaller floating archipelagos were wobbling dangerously close to each other, their magnetic fields creating chaotic atmospheric shear zones and endless gale-force storms.

A fourth continent was drifting in a weird, lopsided figure-eight loop that wobbled every sixteen hours.

To Felix, it did not look like a magnificent fantasy world.

It looked like someone had dumped seventy disorganized shortcut icons across a desktop wallpaper.

"Disgraceful," Felix muttered, his fingers itching with the righteous fury of an orderly computer user. "Who designed this interface? Icons scattered everywhere. Overlapping hitboxes. Zero aesthetic symmetry. How am I supposed to find my resource nodes when the continents are cluttering the screen?"

He long-pressed on the planetary map interface.

A contextual menu expanded in crisp amber borders:

[EXECUTE GRID SNAP] [CANCEL]

Felix did not hesitate for a second.

"Concentric orbital rings, snapped to grid," Felix commanded under his breath, tapping [1. Auto-Arrange] and then selecting [3. Concentric Orbital Rings]. "Neat, tidy, and organized. If you don't keep your desktop clean, your computer slows down."

He pressed [EXECUTE GRID SNAP] with his thumb.

Deep inside Felix's lower abdomen, the Level 60 white dwarf companion core shifted its magnetic polarization by a fraction of a gauss.

The relativistic accretion disk, spinning at eighteen hours per revolution, pulsed with a gentle gravitic harmonic.

A series of concentric gravitational guide-rings rippled outward from the geostationary recliner.

They descended into the atmosphere like invisible, frictionless magnetic rails.

Down in the skies of Aethelgard, the mortal world witnessed a peaceful miracle of celestial engineering.

For ten thousand years, the greatest hazard facing the eight sky-continents was the "Wandering Calamity."

Because the floating continents had no fixed orbits, unpredictable tidal shifts frequently pushed them into collision paths.

Every few centuries, two continents would scrape against each other, causing catastrophic earthquakes, crushing mountain ranges, and killing millions of inhabitants in ferocious territorial wars over remaining airspace.

On the Azure Cloud Continent, King Kenneth stood on the balcony of his high castle, pale and sweating.

His court astronomer was screaming into a bronze horn.

"Your Majesty! The Iron Crag Continent has entered our southern corridor!" the astronomer shrieked. "Tidal gravity is pulling them toward us! Collision in six hours! The sky storms are tearing off our watchtowers!"

Kenneth closed his eyes in despair, clutching the hilt of his sword.

"Sound the general evacuation," Kenneth whispered brokenly. "We cannot fight the sky."

Before the warning horns could blow, however, the trembling stone castle suddenly stabilized.

The shrieking gale-force winds outside the balcony died away into a gentle, fragrant breeze.

Kenneth opened his eyes.

A soft, golden luminescence—like the glow of honey in sunlight—wrapped around the entire southern coastline of his floating kingdom.

The Iron Crag Continent, a jagged mass of black granite ten thousand leagues wide, did not collide.

Instead, as if guided by the gentle hand of an unseen giant, the massive continent banked smoothly to the west.

It slid into a smooth, elegant circular path, settling into an orbit exactly four hundred miles above the Azure Cloud Continent.

Its forward momentum slowed until it moved in perfect mathematical lockstep with the rotation of the central Seventh Spire.

Kenneth sprinted to the edge of the balcony, staring up into the sky.

Across the vast blue dome of Aethelgard, all eight sky-continents were moving simultaneously.

There was no violence.

There was no sound of tearing earth or shattered stone.

The eight wandering landmasses glided into eight concentric, nested rings, spaced at exact mathematical intervals like the rings of an ancient astrolabe.

The lowest continent floated at ten leagues altitude.

The second floated at twenty leagues.

The third at thirty leagues.

Each continent maintained an unvarying angular velocity, never overtaking its neighbor, never casting an unwanted shadow, and never creating a single gale of adverse turbulence.

Between the continents, calm, golden atmospheric channels formed—gentle slipstreams of pure spiritual air where merchant airships could sail without a single flapping sail.

In the imperial palace of the Western Sky Empire, Emperor Aurelius rushed to his map room.

The chief cartographer collapsed on the carpet, dropping his compasses.

"Sire!" the cartographer stammered, weeping openly. "The continents... they have snapped into an eternal mandala! The tidal storms have ceased! The collision risk across the entire mortal world is now zero point zero percent!"

Aurelius stared at the imperial star charts, his voice hushed with reverence.

"He... he organized the world," Aurelius murmured, his chest tightening. "The Sovereign looked upon our chaotic earth, found our wandering continents untidy, and arranged them like books upon a scholar’s shelf."

Down in the Radiant Dawn Academy, Chancellor Valen stood in the central courtyard, gazing up at the magnificent concentric geometry of the sky.

"The Great Alignment..." Valen whispered, his hands trembling as he touched his chest. "No more sky-wars. No more refugee fleets fleeing colliding continents. A child can now sail a paper boat between the eight realms on the golden slipstreams."

"Record this in the Imperial Annals!" Valen shouted to the scribes. "The Seventh Sovereign has established the Eternal Planetary Grid! Creation has received its true architecture!"

Two miles to the east in the high orbital tier, Grand Marshal Vane-Talon stared down at the eight concentric planetary rings from his flagship bridge.

His chief navigation officer fell to his knees before the helm, weeping with relief.

"Grand Marshal!" the officer gasped. "Our perimeter escort patrol routes... they have aligned with the golden slipstreams! We no longer need to fire maneuvering thrusters to maintain station! The gravitational rails carry our dreadnoughts in effortless, perpetual circuits! We have reduced fleet fuel consumption by ninety-eight point four percent!"

Vane-Talon stroked his white mustache, nodding with profound military appreciation.

"Of course," Vane-Talon murmured. "The Supreme Architect does not waste logistics. He has turned an entire planetary system into an automated, self-lubricating conveyor belt. Signal the fleet: cut main engines to idle. Let the Lord's celestial rails steer our ships."

Down on the cedar porch of Solitude Spire, Lord Nether-Bane stood at the edge of the cabbage patch, holding his trusty iron rake.

He looked up at the sky, where the shadow of the Azure Cloud Continent was gliding past smoothly to the west.

"Well, look at that, Mistress Lyra," Nether-Bane chuckled, his jaw clacking happily. "That floating rock used to block the morning sun right when the cabbage sprouts needed their warmth. Look at it now. Skims right past the mountain ridge, leaves the patch in full sun, and gives us four solid hours of golden rays. That is what I call proper architectural zoning."

Lyra Ashford smiled, setting a bowl of fresh spring water onto the cedar table.

Beneath the table leg, the Sovereign Heart Seal purred with sweet, harmonious resonance, anchoring the Seventh Spire as the immovable cosmic pivot of the eight rotating continents.

"The Senior Brother creates order wherever he turns his gaze," Lyra whispered. "Not for glory, but so that every living thing may bask in the light it requires."

Up on the geostationary platform thirty miles above the weeping kings, idling dreadnoughts, and thriving cabbages, Felix Vance looked at his AetherDeck screen.

The messy, chaotic cluster of landmasses was gone.

In its place was a clean, beautiful arrangement of eight neat concentric circles, rotating smoothly around the central icon of Solitude Spire.

Every continent was evenly spaced.

Every resource node was clearly visible without overlapping labels.

Felix tapped the search bar on the top-right corner of the mini-map and typed: `[Dried Mountain Plums]`.

*Ping.*

Eight crisp amber pins dropped onto the map, indicating the exact harvest orchards on Continent #3, with travel time calculated at twelve minutes via the newly formed atmospheric slipstream.

"Now that is efficiency," Felix said with a satisfied grin. "Search indexing is instantaneous. No lag, no clutter, no hunting through submenus."

A pleasant system prompt chime sounded:

[SYSTEM PERK ACQUIRED]: Organized Gamer

[1. LOCK LAYOUT] [2. CLOSE]

Felix tapped [1. LOCK LAYOUT] with a satisfied nod.

He set the AetherDeck onto his lap and brought up his Inspector HUD:

【System Feature: The Aethelgard Concentric Grid】 【Creator: Felix Vance [Master Slacker / UI Purist]】 【Structural Stability: Permanent Relativistic Gravitational Tracks】 【Planetary Impact: Eradicated 10,000 years of continental collisions and seasonal tidal apocalypses】 【Inspector Note: You reorganized the geology of an entire planetary civilization simply because the icons on your mini-map were overlapping. Sages call it the Divine Mandala of Heaven. You call it basic desktop maintenance. Highly recommended to take another sip of tea to reward yourself for doing chores.】

Felix smiled, reaching for his celadon cup.

He took a warm, soothing sip of sixty-eight-degree green tea, savoring the floral undertones.

"Now that is how a map should look," Felix whispered happily to himself. "Clean, readable, and easy to navigate. If developers took UI design more seriously, players wouldn't have to fix the world themselves."

Beside his footrest, Barnaby the clockwork owl let out a cheerful series of rhythmic clicks, his brass head bobbing in rhythm with the new planetary rotation.

Outside the comfort bubble, the eight continents spun in majestic, silent harmony below his feet.

Felix crossed his legs, tilted his straw hat back over his nose, and settled back into his linen cushions to enjoy the clean, orderly view of his newly organized universe.
