Chapter 221: The Ten-Million-Year Power Solution

The morning sun over Aethelgard shone with steady, radiant abundance.

Forty million miles out, the Kardashev-II Dyson Ring maintained its flawless orbital spin around the primary star.

Through the concentric magnetic slipstreams, twelve billion units of refined solar plasma flowed continuously into the planetary power grid.

Down in the mortal kingdoms, the concept of an energy crisis had officially ceased to exist.

For five thousand years, the greatest driving force behind wars, imperial conquests, and sect massacres was the scarcity of spirit crystals.

Every king hoarded crystal mines.

Every grandmaster guarded private spirit veins with lethal traps and blood formations.

Now, any common farmer who stuck a copper rod into his potato field could power three automated water mills, four heating hearths, and an electric tea lantern without paying a single copper coin.

In the imperial treasury of the Western Sky Empire, Emperor Aurelius sat on an overturned wooden crate, staring at three thousand vaults of obsolete spirit crystals.

"Sire," the Minister of Mining stammered, holding a ledger with trembling fingers. "The spot price of high-grade spirit crystals has dropped by ninety-nine point nine percent. Nobody is buying them. Even the blacksmiths are using free wireless solar mana to heat their forges."

Aurelius let out a breathless, joyful laugh.

"Burn them for decorative fireworks!" Aurelius proclaimed, tossing an imperial crystal into the air. "We have entered the Golden Epoch of Infinite Light! Load three hundred treasure galleons with pure gold bullion, celestial silks, and immortal scriptures! Deliver them to the Seventh Spire immediately as our tribute to the Great Sovereign!"

Thirty miles above the celebrating empires, however, the Great Sovereign was staring at his delivery ledger with profound confusion.

Felix Vance leaned over the armrest of his geostationary wicker recliner, looking down into the magnetic freight hatch.

The hatch was overflowing with glittering gold bars, chests of dragon-silk brocade, and ornate crystal chalices filled with pearl necklaces.

Felix poked a gold bar with the toe of his cloth slipper.

"What is all this shiny garbage?" Felix muttered, his face crinkling in distaste. "Gold ingots? Pearl necklaces? What am I supposed to do with thirty tons of dead metal in orbit?"

He opened the AetherDeck and pulled up the delivery manifest.

An Inspector HUD tooltip popped up in vibrant amber letters:

【Consignment: Imperial Tribute of forty Mortal Empires】 【Total Weight: 38,000 Metric Tons of Refined Gold, Jade, and Royal Gems】 【Reason for Delivery: Sages and emperors are expressing eternal gratitude for infinite wireless power across eight continents】 【Player Value: Sells for zero game XP. Takes up valuable porch storage space.】 【Inspector Note: You solved a ten-million-year planetary energy crisis by grounding your recliner's surplus heat into the earth. The inhabitants of the world are throwing their entire GDP at your feet. Meanwhile, you are annoyed because the gold chests are blocking your view of the vegetable patch.】

Felix let out a heavy, suffering groan.

"I don't need gold," Felix grumbled aloud. "My character has max gold from the fishing mini-game. What I need is cabbage fertilizer! Nether-Bane asked for two more cartloads of fermented mountain loam, and instead these imperial NPCs keep sending me shiny rocks!"

He picked up the AetherDeck and opened the trade terminal.

He drafted a global public broadcast notification:

[SEND BROADCAST TO REALM] [CANCEL]

Felix tapped [SEND BROADCAST TO REALM] with a decisive swipe of his thumb.

Down on the surface of Aethelgard, the broadcast echoed through every transmission crystal, communication mirror, and academy astrolabe simultaneously.

In the Great Hall of the Radiant Dawn Academy, Chancellor Valen read the glowing golden runes with bulging eyes.

"Gold is heavy and useless..." Valen read aloud, his voice cracking into a high-pitched squeak. "Cease delivering worldly wealth! The Sovereign demands only the Three Sacred Elements of Equilibrium!"

"The Three Sacred Elements?" Vice-Chancellor Morgana asked, clutching her heart.

"Yes!" Valen cried, falling to his knees before the assembly. "The Yin-Yang Plum of Digestive Harmony! The Earth-Mother Compost of Vital Regeneration! And the Sacred Fleece of Root Grounding! Sages across seven continents have misunderstood the Divine Will! He does not desire worldly empire; he desires ecological and spiritual circularity!"

Within twenty minutes, forty mortal empires completely restructured their national economies.

The gold mines were abandoned.

Royal silk weavers were ordered to drop their golden thread and begin mass-producing five-fold fleece socks.

Imperial agricultural ministries mobilized three million farmers to produce the most aromatic, nutrient-rich compost in human history.

Orchards of mountain plums were guarded by imperial legionnaires with drawn swords to ensure no bird pecked at the sacred fruit.

Up in the orbital approach lane, Grand Marshal Vane-Talon personally boarded an imperial tribute barge that had been flagged for anomalous mass readings.

Upon lifting a crate of dried plums, Vane-Talon uncovered six hidden gold ingots tucked beneath the straw lining.

The dreadnought marshal slammed his fist onto the crate lid, his mustache quivering with explosive fury.

"Contraband gold!" Vane-Talon roared at the terrified merchant captain. "Did you not hear the Divine Edict? Gold is heavy and useless! You attempted to smuggle thirty pounds of dead metal onto the Sacred Porch Line! Throw these ingots into the sun, and replace them with two sacks of dried mountain plums immediately!"

Down at the Radiant Dawn Academy, Chancellor Valen and Elder Guan-Zhi were personally inspecting three thousand pairs of newly knitted wool socks with brass magnifying lenses.

"Feel this yarn, Elder Guan-Zhi," Valen whispered solemnly, rubbing a soft grey sock against his bearded cheek. "Is there any prickle? Does the wool scratch the divine epidermis?"

"Zero prickle anywhere, Chancellor," Guan-Zhi wept, stroking the fleece. "It feels like the belly of a newborn cloud lamb. The Sovereign's ankles will be enveloped in pure, heavenly comfort."

Down on the cedar porch of Solitude Spire, thirty miles below the orbital terrace, Lord Nether-Bane stood beside his iron rake, watching forty imperial sky-galleons unload fragrant carts of dark, steaming loam into the garden compost pit.

"Well, look at that, Mistress Lyra," Nether-Bane chuckled, his jaw clattering merrily. "The Master put his foot down. No more shiny rocks cluttering the driveway. Look at this dirt! Rich, dark, smelling of decomposed pine needles and dragon dung. That will make the sun-cabbages sweet enough to rot your teeth!"

Lyra Ashford walked past, carrying a large wicker basket filled with three dozen pairs of cloud-soft wool socks delivered by the Royal Weavers of the Western Sky.

"The Senior Brother's wisdom is boundless," Lyra said softly, her violet eyes shining with serene reverence. "Gold only breeds greed and warfare among mortals. By demanding compost and fruit, he forces humanity to cultivate the earth and live in harmony with the soil."

Nether-Bane leaned on his rake, chuckling into his neck bones.

"Aye, Mistress," the skeleton agreed. "And more importantly, the lad won't have cold toes when the winter wind blows through the balustrade."

Lyra placed three pairs of the softest fleece socks into the pneumatic freight hopper, sending them up the golden tether with a flick of the lever.

Up on the orbital terrace thirty miles in the air, the brass freight hatch opened smoothly beside Felix Vance's right elbow.

The pedestal rose, presenting a warm lacquered tray holding a steaming cup of sixty-eight-degree green tea, a bowl of dried mountain plums, and three pairs of cloud-grey wool socks.

Felix’s eyes widened with genuine, heartfelt appreciation.

He immediately reached out, kicking off his cloth slippers and pulling on a pair of the hand-knitted fleece socks.

The moment the wool touched his skin, his toes sank into a cloud of heavenly softness.

An Inspector HUD tooltip materialized above his ankles:

【Item: Imperial Cloud-Fleece Porch Socks】 【Material: Five-Fold Cloud Ram Fleece, Singed with Calming Mountain Lavender】 【Thermal Insulation: 100.0% Frostbite Immunity [Maintains permanent 72.0°F Foot Comfort]】 【Player Comfort Buff: +25% Sleep Deepness, Zero Ankle Draft Penalty】 【Inspector Note: Mortal emperors mobilized seven hundred master weavers under threat of execution to knit socks soft enough for your lazy feet. You are currently wiggling your toes in thirty million gold coins' worth of royal craftsmanship. You think they are just nice socks. Sells for zero gold, completely priceless to an idle gamer.】

Felix wiggled his toes against the polished cedar floorboards, letting out a blissful sigh of pure domestic luxury.

"Oh man," Felix groaned, resting his head back against the linen cushion. "Those are good socks. Seamless toes. No itchy wool. My ankles are completely toasty."

He picked up a dried mountain plum, popped it into his mouth, and chewed with deep, meditative contentment.

The tart, sweet nectar burst across his tongue, soothing his throat and bringing a deep smile to his face.

"Now that is proper trade," Felix whispered happily to himself. "Food and socks for energy. A fair deal for everyone."

He checked the AetherDeck screen.

His character status panel was flashing with brilliant golden runes:

`Core Cultivation State: Level 69.999% [BREAKTHROUGH PRIME]`

`Ambient Solar Grid: 100.0% STABLE`

`Footwear Status: OPTIMAL WARMTH`

Felix reached down to pat Barnaby's brass head.

The clockwork owl purred softly, his atomic chronometer clicking in perfect synchrony with the rotating Dyson Ring.

Outside the cedar railing, the eight concentric continents glided through the stardust below, entirely free from poverty, cold, and darkness.

Felix leaned back against his linen cushion, crossed his warm, fleece-clad ankles on the footrest, and pulled his straw hat down over his eyes.

He drifted into the peaceful, golden slumber of a master whose universe was finally warm, cozy, and completely running on auto-pilot.
