Chapter 194: The 108 Dreadnought Moonlets Fire

In the orbit directly above the Seventh Spire, the 108 Western Sky dreadnought moonlets were glowing like a string of golden holiday pearls.

Each massive iron vessel, measuring three miles from armored prow to stern thrusters, had been anchored in geosynchronous formation since the conclusion of the Western Sky siege.

Over the past two weeks, their hulls had undergone a subtle, celestial transformation.

Bathing continuously in the gentle, ambient solar radiation leaking from Felix Vance’s dantian, the cold iron plating of the dreadnoughts had absorbed billions of units of pure hydrogen-helium plasma.

The excess energy had settled into their primary mana reactors, filling the storage capacitors to overflowing.

On the bridge of the imperial flagship *Sovereign Dawn*, Grand Marshal Vane-Talon was pacing along the polished brass command catwalk.

"Marshal!" the chief engineer shouted from the reactor pit below, his uniform unbuttoned at the collar. "Capacitors four through eighteen are redlining! The Master’s ambient warmth is saturating our primary prism coils! If we don’t vent the excess solar charge within three minutes, our secondary cooling conduits will melt into slag!"

Vane-Talon adjusted his gold-trimmed uniform cuffs, his heart thumping heavily against his ribs.

"We cannot vent blindly toward the lower mortal valleys," Vane-Talon said with stern authority. "A single burst of unrefined solar plasma would incinerate three whole mountain counties! Where is the Master pointing his divine attention?"

"Look at the telemetry from Solitude Spire!" the navigator shouted, pointing a brass sextant toward the optical mirror. "A targeting vector has just been transmitted from the Seventh Spire’s central hearth!"

Down on the cedar porch, Felix Vance was squinting at a flashing yellow prompt on the AetherDeck.

He was sitting comfortably with his feet propped up on an empty wooden melon crate.

The screen of the AetherDeck had just buzzed twice.

AETHERDECK SYSTEM NOTICE: THERMAL PURGE REQUIRED

unwanted fan noise during evening sleep hours.
[1. DISCHARGE STATIC] [2. HOLD CHARGE] [3. IGNORE]

Felix scratched his chin through his light stubble.

"Excess static charge?" Felix murmured, feeling the slight prickly sensation in the soles of his feet. "Yeah, I noticed my wool socks were sticking to the hammock blanket earlier. If I don't discharge it now, I'm going to get shocked every time I touch the kettle."

He glanced at option one.

"And venting it into that ugly black hole in the sky makes total sense," Felix nodded to himself. "Better to ground the circuit into empty space than fry the internal wiring."

He hovered his thumb over option one.

An Inspector HUD tooltip flickered into view in cheerful gold text.

【Command Action: Orbital Static Grounding Pulse】 【Target Vector: Sector Zero-Four [Upper Void Tear]】 【Acoustic Resonance: Harmonic Wind-Chime Modulation】 【Inspector Note: Safely releases peripheral electrostatic buildup from the orbiting defense array. Creates a vibrant, multicolored laser show. Harmless to innocent bystanders. Extremely irritating to dark matter entities who dislike bright festive lighting. Highly recommended before bedtime.】

Felix grinned faintly.

"A laser show, huh?" Felix chuckled. "I used to love the Fourth of July fireworks at the city park. Let's clear the static and see what it looks like."

He tapped [1. DISCHARGE STATIC].

Up in the orbit of the Seventh Spire, the command signal reached the 108 dreadnoughts simultaneously.

On the flagship bridge, Grand Marshal Vane-Talon gasped as the brass steering wheel rotated, guided by an unseen, celestial force.

"The vector is locked!" Vane-Talon bellowed through his brass speaking trumpet. "The Master has spoken! All 108 moonlets, engage Synchronized Prism Arrays! Open fire upon the Void Tear!"

Across a thousand leagues of upper atmosphere, the 108 iron moonlets shifted in unison.

Their massive forward battery cowlings slid back on greased bronze rails, revealing colossal crystal prisms cut from pure mountain diamond.

The solar plasma stored within their reactors surged into the crystal focal chambers.

*SHIIIING.*

The firing sequence carried no thunderous, concussive roar of gunpowder or destructive spirit artillery.

Instead, the discharge produced a clear, melodic chime—a series of sweet, crystalline tones that sounded like millions of tiny silver bells ringing in a gentle spring breeze.

From the bows of the 108 dreadnoughts, 108 blinding beams of pure prismatic light lanced upward into the dark void breach.

The beams did not travel in straight, harsh lines.

They bent through the newly calibrated 21:9 ultrawide spatial matrix, weaving around each other like ribbons of liquid emerald, ruby, amethyst, and gold.

The beams struck the jagged rim of the cosmic tear.

High Sovereign Xylarion was still reeling from the brutal shock of the metric tensor snap.

His continental eye was half-closed, his psychic consciousness trembling from the planar recoil.

When the 108 synchronized prism beams slammed into the breach, the void ruler shrieked in absolute agony.

To a being forged from absolute cold, antimatter, and deep-space vacuum, the synchronized solar plasma beams were like a concentrated blast of liquid noon directly into an open wound.

*LIGHT!* Xylarion screamed across all mental frequencies. *THEY ARE FIRING THE PURE ESSENCE OF SOLAR CREATION! MY ANTIMATTER SEALS ARE EVAPORATING!*

The dark matter tendrils anchoring the void rift began to burn away like dry spiderwebs touched by a blowtorch.

The prismatic beams pierced through the surviving void cruisers, ionizing their dark hulls into brilliant clouds of sparkling cyan and violet dust.

The entire sky above Aethelgard turned into a breathtaking, iridescent light show.

Golden sparks rained down from the upper stratosphere, drifting across the mountain valleys like harmless, warm confetti.

High above the clouds, the three Abyssal Star-Whales joined the celebration.

The massive celestial leviathans did slow, joyful barrel rolls through the ionized stardust clouds, their deep twenty-two hertz calls blending with the chiming prism beams.

Down in the courtyards of the Radiant Dawn Academy, thousands of junior disciples and senior masters dropped their practice swords and looked upward in wonder.

"The Great Aurora!" an elder cried, raising his arms to catch falling specks of golden stardust. "The Patriarch of the Seventh Spire is blessing the realm with the Nine-Colored Sun-Lotus Light!"

"Look at the music of the sky!" a junior disciple gasped, pointing at the intertwining laser ribbons. "The celestial bells are singing! The void demons are being cleansed by pure harmony!"

Chancellor Valen stood on the observatory balcony, catching a warm, glowing speck of stardust in the palm of his hand.

The stardust did not burn his skin.

Instead, a surge of pure, refined solar vitality rushed through his meridians, clearing the lingering fatigue of three sleepless nights in an instant.

"It is a festival," Valen whispered, a wide, awe-struck smile spreading across his weathered face. "The Senior Brother did not merely repel the supreme lord of the outer void. He turned the invasion into a celestial celebration for the entire mortal world!"

Down on the cedar porch of Solitude Spire, Felix Vance was leaning back in his wicker chair, looking up at the sky with genuine admiration.

He held his porcelain cup of roasted barley tea, watching how the liquid surface caught the dancing reflections of the ruby and emerald beams like a festive party punch.

"Man, this graphics engine really knows how to do particle effects," Felix said, resting his hands behind his head. "Look at the refraction on those beams. The lighting shader is top tier. You’d think this was running on a forty-ninety graphics card."

Beside him, Lyra Ashford was staring at the dazzling light show with tears flowing freely down her cheeks.

Her hands were clasped in front of her chest in deep prayer.

"Senior Brother..." Lyra whispered, her voice trembling with ecstatic devotion. "You have transformed the terror of the Great Abyssal Rift into a river of holy lanterns... The entire world is bathed in your boundless grace."

Felix turned his head and gave her a lazy, lopsided grin.

"It was just some static buildup from the wool blanket, Lyra," Felix said, waving a hand dismissively. "If you don't ground the capacitors, you get pops on the audio channel. But yeah, the light show is pretty neat. Nether-Bane, what do you think?"

Down in the cabbage garden, Lord Nether-Bane had set his rake aside.

The ghost king and his corsairs were dancing a slow hornpipe on the garden path, their spectral boots clacking softly against the stone tiles as golden starlight showered over their hemp aprons.

"Pure gold, Cap'n!" Nether-Bane yelled up to the porch. "Best lantern festival this pirate crew has seen in three hundred years! The cabbages are glowing like lanterns themselves!"

Up on the roof beam, Patriarch Ao Cang blew a warm plume of smoke from his nostrils, the glittering starlight reflecting off his obsidian scales.

The static had been completely discharged.

The screen of the AetherDeck gave a soft, rewarding ping.

Felix chuckled under his breath, dismissing the achievement banner with a flick of his index finger.

"Master of Ambient Party Lighting?" Felix smirked. "Well, at least my socks won't spark against the floorboards anymore."

He picked up a dry salted biscuit from the wicker tray, dipped the corner into his warm barley tea, and took a crunchy bite.

Up in the orbit of Solitude Spire, the 108 dreadnought moonlets slowly ceased fire as their capacitor banks stabilized at optimal capacity.

The crystal cowlings slid closed with heavy, oiled clunks, and the vessels settled back into their neat circular parking orbit, their fairy lights and paper lanterns twinkling serenely in the evening gloom.

Grand Marshal Vane-Talon wiped his brow with a silk handkerchief and ordered his signal officers to transmit a formal victory salute down to the peak.

Down in the lower spires, Chancellor Valen immediately summoned the Chief Scribe of the Academy Archives.

"Record this hour in the golden imperial annals," Valen instructed, his voice ringing with absolute certainty. "From this day forth, the seventh day of the autumn month shall be known across all provinces as the Festival of the Solar Chimes, in honor of the Senior Brother’s celestial mercy."

The sky was glowing in warm, festive twilight.

And high above the dancing prism beams, the terrified eye of High Sovereign Xylarion was desperately trying to figure out how to surrender.
