Chapter 207: Deploying the Collector Mirrors

Across seventy thousand leagues of hard cosmic vacuum, the three hundred and sixty golden collector nodes traveled in magnificent mathematical alignment.

They were not bulky, smoke-spewing steam machines or clanking iron contraptions.

Each node was a masterwork of autonomous celestial clockwork.

Shaped like a polished brass melon about three feet in length, each casing was engraved with intricate geometric runes that absorbed ambient solar pressure to fuel its internal micro-thrusters.

As the swarm approached the fiery corona of the Aethelgard system's primary star, their deployment routines engaged.

*CLICK-CHIRP.*

In perfect unison, three hundred and sixty spring-loaded latches released.

From the sides of each brass melon, four curved, fan-shaped reflector sails unfolded.

The sails were crafted from gossamer-thin sheets of gold-leaf foil, reinforced with flexible carbon-crystal ribs that arched backward like the petals of a blooming sunflower.

When fully expanded, each collector sail measured over two hundred yards across, gleaming with brilliant, mirror-like intensity.

They positioned themselves precisely one degree apart along the star’s equatorial plane, forming a colossal circle with a radius of forty million miles.

Back in his geostationary wicker recliner, Felix Vance cracked open one eye under his straw hat.

He tapped the screen of the AetherDeck to inspect the orbital telemetry.

Felix frowned at the screen, clicking his tongue in mild annoyance.

"A zero-point-zero-zero-four degree offset?" Felix muttered, shaking his head. "Look at that gap between one-seventy-nine and one-eighty. It's totally crooked."

He rubbed his chin.

To an ordinary observer, a four-thousandths-of-a-degree variance across a circle forty million miles wide was utterly imperceptible.

To an experienced gamer who spent hours aligning furniture in sandbox building simulators, however, that tiny gap was like a crooked picture frame on a white wall.

"Uneven spacing triggers my OCD so hard," Felix grumbled. "If you're going to build a solar ring, build it straight. I don't want my automated macro stuttering every time it loops past the southern hemisphere."

He hovered his finger over option two.

An Inspector HUD tooltip popped up in neat golden text over the telemetry grid.

【Target: Collector Node #179 [Southern Quadrant]】 【Current Thruster Impulse: Cold Gas Micro-Puff】 【Correction Distance: 140 Miles Eastward Along Orbit】 【Inspector Note: Fine-tuning node placement ensures 100% harmonic resonance. Allows the macro script to execute seamless, stutter-free energy sweeps without dropping a single frame. Strongly recommended for perfectionist slackers.】

Felix tapped [2. NUDGE NODE 179].

Then he gave the virtual joystick on the screen a tiny, gentle flick to the right.

Forty million miles away, on the far side of the blazing star, Node #179 fired a microscopic puff of cold compressed argon gas from its left reaction nozzle.

*Pfff.*

The golden sail drifted eastward by exactly one hundred and forty miles.

The spacing between Node #179 and Node #180 settled into a flawless, mathematically pristine one point zero zero zero degrees.

The diagnostic screen on the AetherDeck flashed bright green:

*Array Spacing: 100.00% Uniform. Geometric Symmetry Achieved.*

Felix let out a long, satisfied breath.

"Much better," Felix said, smiling contentedly. "Now the circle looks clean."

Down on the mortal world of Aethelgard, the deployment of the three hundred and sixty collector mirrors was triggering an unprecedented wave of spiritual awe.

It was high noon.

In the courtyards of the Radiant Dawn Academy, thousands of disciples and elders were staring up into the blazing daylight.

Around the blazing golden disk of the primary sun, three hundred and sixty brilliant, pinpoint stars had suddenly ignited.

They formed a perfect, radiant necklace of golden fire encircling the midday sun.

Each mirror caught the intense solar rays, reflecting concentrated beams of filtered golden luminescence across the heavens.

The sunlight reaching the mortal realm softened from harsh, blinding glare into a warm, amber brilliance that filled the air with the scent of wild honey and blooming chrysanthemums.

Chancellor Valen stood upon the Grand Balcony of the Astral Observatory, holding his bronze sextant with hands that shook like autumn leaves in a gale.

Beside him, Vice-Chancellor Morgana was frantically sketching the golden ring onto a scroll of silver silk.

"Three hundred and sixty stars..." Morgana whispered, her breath catching in her throat. "Exactly three hundred and sixty! A complete circle of heaven!"

"The Three Hundred and Sixty Heavenly Mansions..." Valen murmured, tears flowing freely down his weathered cheeks into his white beard. "In the lost codices of the Star-Origin Sect, it was prophesied that when the Primordial Solar God claims his rightful throne, he shall crown the sun with three hundred and sixty golden pearls!"

Valen pointed a trembling finger toward the southern rim of the ring.

"And look at his divine perfection!" Valen cried out, his voice echoing across the courtyard to thousands of listening cultivators. "Moments ago, the southern star was separated by a hair's breadth from its sibling! The Senior Brother, seated upon his wicker throne in the void, reached out with his divine finger and nudged the stars into absolute, flawless symmetry!"

The assembled elders dropped to their knees, their foreheads pressing against the cool marble flagstones.

"He commands the stars with a flick of his wrist!" Elder Wu sobbed in overwhelming reverence. "He arranges the firmament as though placing chess pieces upon a board! Who in all the nine heavens can compare to the Senior Brother’s majesty?"

Down on the cedar porch of Solitude Spire, Lyra Ashford stood by the wooden railing.

She looked at the front left leg of the cedar table.

Underneath the timber leg, the ancient Sovereign Heart Seal was humming softly, vibrating in perfect sympathetic resonance with the newly aligned solar ring in the heavens.

The filtered amber light poured over the cedar floorboards, illuminating the grain with a warm, golden sheen.

Down in the cabbage garden, Lord Nether-Bane leaned on his iron rake, watching the twelve-star sun-lotus cabbages absorb the refined solar rays.

The outer leaves of the cabbages, which had been dark emerald green, were turning into translucent amber jade.

"Look at that harvest, lads!" Nether-Bane shouted to his spectral corsairs, his skeletal jaw clacking with pure joy. "The Master's new mirrors are bathing the garden in pure liquid gold! These cabbages won't just taste good—they'll grant three hundred years of longevity to anyone who eats a leaf!"

Up in the orbit of the Seventh Spire, Grand Marshal Vane-Talon stood on the forward catwalk of the flagship *Sovereign Dawn*.

The 108 Western Sky dreadnought moonlets were drifting along their patrol path, their crews leaning over the iron gun deck railings to gaze at the magnificent golden necklace encircling the star.

"Navigation report!" Vane-Talon barked, wiping away a stray tear from his eye.

"Marshal!" the chief astrogator replied, his uniform damp with sweat. "The collector mirrors are locked into stable orbital equilibrium! Their reflective focal corridors are beginning to link! We are detecting massive electromagnetic resonance building between the nodes!"

Vane-Talon looked up toward the solitary wicker recliner hovering peacefully in geostationary orbit.

"He did not merely build a weapon," Vane-Talon whispered with deep solemnity. "He is preparing to weave the stars together into a single, living cosmic circuit. All ships, maintain absolute silence! Do not generate a single ripple of engine turbulence while the Master completes the Great Circuit!"

Up in his wicker chair, Felix Vance was completely oblivious to the planetary hysteria below.

He took another sip of his warm roasted barley tea, feeling the seventy-degree breeze caress his cheeks.

He checked the temperature readouts on the AetherDeck screen.

All 360 nodes were operating at a cool three hundred Kelvin, their superconducting heat pipes venting excess thermal pressure safely into deep space.

Beside him on the armrest, Barnaby the Clockwork Owl puffed out his feathers, his balance wheel purring in perfect synchrony with the newly aligned solar mirrors.

Tick... tock... click.

High above the floating recliner, the three Abyssal Star-Whales glided in a slow, joyous loop around the copper dish.

Their vast, translucent fins rippled through the vacuum, trailing ribbons of glowing stardust that drifted down toward the mortal world like harmless golden snowflakes.

The lead matriarch let out a low, resonant twenty-two hertz trill, her bioluminescent barnacles pulsing in time with the distant collector mirrors.

Felix looked up and smiled, waving a hand toward the glowing pod.

"Just hold on a few minutes, guys," Felix said with an amused chuckle. "Once this ring links up, the solar collector will bleed off tons of ambient warm plasma. You'll have an entire forty-million-mile heated swimming pool to nap in. You won't have to crowd around my recliner anymore."

The whales let out a harmonious chorus of whistles, diving through the orbital slipstream in joyful anticipation.

Meanwhile, three thousand leagues to the west, in the golden throne room of the Western Sky Empire, Emperor Aurelius and his Grand Vizier were staring into the imperial divination pool.

The pool was reflecting the three hundred and sixty golden stars encircling the noon sun.

"Vizier..." Aurelius whispered, his golden scepter trembling in his grip. "Our grand fleet... Grand Marshal Vane-Talon and the one hundred and eight moonlet dreadnoughts... are they still alive?"

"Sire!" the Vizier replied, holding up an encrypted crystal communication slate. "Marshal Vane-Talon just transmitted an urgent imperial dispatch! The fleet is completely unharmed! They are currently serving as the honorary guard of honor for the Master's solar array! The Marshal reports that the Senior Brother has just crowned the sun with three hundred and sixty golden pearls!"

Aurelius slowly sank back into his dragon throne, his breath trembling with awe.

"The Western Sky shall send three hundred tribute barges of sweet dried fruits and mountain jade to Solitude Spire by evening," Aurelius decreed. "We must ensure the Master’s tea table is never without snacks!"

Up in his wicker chair, Felix Vance picked up the AetherDeck and looked at the flashing prompt on the screen:

*All 360 Nodes Aligned. Ready to Engage Magnetic Plasma Tethers.*

*Establish Dyson Ring Link? [Yes / No]*

Felix tapped [Yes].

"Let's connect the dots," Felix murmured with a sleepy chuckle. "Time to see this ring in action."
